Curious, what software for sampling do you use, and in conjunction with what recording software?

I can cut and chop very nicely, it does it all for me.
It now does VST which makes it perfect!

Nov 01, 2004 02:48 pm I just started using recycle in conjunction with reason. I'm not used to using samples, but I'm starting to get the hang of it a little bit.
Nov 01, 2004 07:55 pm Woohoo...just got the old Sony MiniDisc working again...I'll be takin Flame's lead and using this little baby.
Was a stonker in tis day ( a little bigish now but it'll do for recording out the studio).
Only thing is, I need to use the flimsy wee battery case that comes with it (canny find the charger) and the lythium rechargeable battery inside is dead!

Nov 01, 2004 08:04 pm I just record all my samples through my setup, and edit and tweak em a little in wavelab, and then put them into fruity for sequencing. I would like a dedicated sampler though, that I can load all my samples to and create key maps and stuff like that for playing live.

Nov 01, 2004 08:57 pm Roland's Disklab CDX-1... still haven't gotten around to synching it with the DAW yet, though . I did manage to link it nicely with theWent's Tascam digital mixer once, and this may be a good way to go about it now . I was reading 'bout a multitrack app, with it's midi-synching optimized for outside linking of other recorders... I dun'no . It's all crazy... mixers ordering samplers around, drum machines thinking they're pianists... madness ! heh heh I have Acid 4.0, too, but haven't messed with it yet .

Nov 02, 2004 11:04 pm Well some of the software samplers I use, Velocity, DS864, V-Sampler, SampleTank 2 and Cyclone.
Nov 08, 2004 03:08 am Sample into Pro Tools. Looping in Protools is the best..easier than looping with an MPC, which id give a ten for looping audio. But, no way in hell to sequence..so i export them wav. to FL to sequence them..I always wanted that software Kontak..I had it on one of my computers that crashed and never got to use it..It had a nice interface and i heard you could adjust the length of the sample without affecting the pitch...a feature i have yet to get my hands on

Dec 20, 2004 06:25 pm i know im kinda late on this one but I had been using a really good recording program called audacity. It suppports vst plugins and can export to ogg, mp3, and wav files. You can select sample rates abd all that good stuff too. I really liked it cuz it was really "Raw". You could just click and copy and paste. Do whatever you wanted. It was easy to dig deep into your tracks. I am comparing this to cakewalk though. I havent had experience w/ cubase yet, but its the best free program ive ever used.

Jan 11, 2005 12:43 am I use SoundForge, but mainly for sound design purpose's. I really dont use it for mastering at all. But I have in the past.
Aug 08, 2005 07:20 am I use live, mainly for start and endings of the samples . . . then it goes into reason 2.5 (NN-XT or redrum, depends on situation) . . . then its rewired to cubase
Aug 08, 2005 07:29 am i use soundforge. then i use recycle and then sling it into reason, my tool of choice. i either use the wav in a synth ot set it up in the loop sampler (dr:rex) in reason.

Oct 02, 2005 10:27 pm The only sampling I've done is the food they give out at sams club to try to get you to buy it. The best was a piece of snickers bar. I have reason, cubase, sonar, and samplitude, but haven't had the time to learn how to accomplish this audio feat yet.

Jan 18, 2006 11:33 pm I use an old version of Fruity but I'm looking to upgrade here soon. I'm not sure if I want to get Project 5 or just upgrade my recording software to Sonar from Guitar Tracks.

Jan 20, 2006 12:51 am DungBeatle, Cake 3.0 on the P90. I remember those days. I actually started with cake on an Atari 1040 ST. Gregs very first program. The GUI was so archaic now that I look back. I have some old screne shots of CakePro 4.0 and I think a couple of the other first versin for PC. I'll pop em up if I can find them.
Jan 21, 2006 06:17 pm It was the first sequencer I actually found useful. Anything else was just horrible. I had a Turtle Beach card then. It sounded pretty good for its day. I didn't own midi in the early days, I have two pianos I've moved around with me since the 70's. Wife and I used to play two-piano and I wrote originals and arrangements for us. Times change...

Jan 21, 2006 10:23 pm Yep, times change for sure. Like me with no analog synths in the house. In the 70's I was hauling a B3 and a couple other keyboards around along with a pair of Leslies. Dont miss that at all, except for the sound. But again, the synths have fixed that problem as well.
As for the midi, I dove into that from the start. We lived in a bungalow when I first started putting together a home studio that was worth anything. Boy did my wife think I was nuts when I rolled a 2" tape machine into the house. Then started draggin cables all over to hook it up to sync with all the midi gear. Anypiece of hardware I could control with midi was hooked up. Then along came the PC that could do audio as well, and the gear started rolling back out the door ever since. I still have a crap load of hardware, but not nearly what it was even 5 years ago.
Jan 22, 2006 09:31 am I hauled around a Fender Rhodes 88 when I played in bands. Man that was a heavy unit. Broke tines all the time. Had quite the heavy touch from playing real piano. It had the sound though... Then I had some Vox organ that really screamed.. and then it died....
