I can go either way on this one. I personally don't think they could have staged such a thing way back then. The effects would not have been easy to achieve with the technology in film making back then. So I guess I might have a bit more belief in that yes they did really go.

Who's we? Oh, you mean the people in the American space program.

Yes, they did that.

Patrick Moore was working at Jodrell Bank radio telescope at the time of the landing. His team tracked the moon lander craft right up until it touched down (unofficially?). He said there's no doubt that the craft landed and someone of his integrity would not lie about something as important as this. This statement on tv was all the proof I needed.

yeah, and as far as i know (i might be wrong) anyone government in the world with a direct line of sight to the moon could have picked up the apollo telemetry during the approach and landing. but no country accused us of lying. as far as i know, we would have had to have faked the telemetry. by putting up a satellite in geosynchronous orbit--with nobody noticing--and we would have had to set it to chirp out fake data.

forty, I am with you. There were just too many things that could not have been faked with the technology we had back then. And no matter what the conspiracy theorist's have to say they are pretty much dead wrong. Because we simply were not that advanced technology wise back then.

No offense, but it makes no difference to me. Who cares if we landed on the moon.

Remeber JFK's speech about that? Something like,

"We choose to go to the moon this decade, and do the other thing, not because they are easy, but because they are hard."

What was he talking about when he said "the other thing"?

I bet JFK did alot of the 'other thing' while he was in office.

and probably quite a lot while out of office too =0.

It's been said that JFK was Slick Willie's Idol, so there you go =).

I'm pretty convinced that the "other thing" was the internet which was initially formulated a month before that speech and later became ARPAnet.

but it is plural so theres probably a lot of nifty little projects that were going on then... the first laser was in 1960... I think we were doing stealth aircraft too... I've heard of some really crazy projects but I cant reference most of them...like matter phase shifting and "other fun stuff"

I was curious about the same thing a while back. I reread the speech and concluded that he was talking about further space exploration...Mars, etc.
