Well I honored one of my new years resolutions today about learning to use VST instruments. I bought Cakewalk Home Studio 4 and downloaded the demo for Battery 2 for a crash lesson. After one afternoon I cant believe I was making such a big deal out of this whole process. I was mainly afraid of buying expensive software that I would have no clue as to how to use but it turns out that its pretty easy. I think I'm going to go back to guitar center tomorrow and get the full Battery 2 program. Thanks to everyone for the tips and ideas!

Jan 29, 2006 09:12 pm Well I bought BFD but for $99.00 I might have to go ahead and pick that one up too! Thanks for the heads up on that Noize. :)
Jan 29, 2006 09:17 pm I've played with a lot of drum software over the years, Battery is hard to beat...no pun intended...

Jan 30, 2006 07:09 pm I am going to try the demo and it may be my drum software of choice as I am really liking the stability of Native Instruments software. Not that I'm gonna ditch DrumCore or anything, but it seems that Battery 2 has so much more to offer and is much more workable to get in deeper as I prefer to do. CrumCore just doesnt allow getting deep into it very easily.

Jan 30, 2006 10:22 pm I like the Demo I downloaded of Battery 2. After I wrote my first post on here I did some more digging around and feel in love with the sounds BFD had. Thats how I wound up buying it instead. Its beautiful but takes a LOT of computer power to run. I think I'm going to get the second hard drive next week. :) While I'm on the subject of second hard drives.... Can I put other instruments on that drive and use it the same as BFD? I mean if I get that $99 Battery can I install it on the second hard drive and it still work?

Jan 30, 2006 11:25 pm Yes you can. Install the progam to the OS drive. Then it should ask were you want the sample content installed and you simply point it to the secndary drive.

Jan 31, 2006 12:00 am Very cool. Thank you Noize. Do you guys have a favorite source for computer parts? I cound just go down to BestBuy but I imagine I could get a better deal online. I was just checking out Tiger Direct but I have never heard of them.

Feb 01, 2006 08:54 pm I have a local guy www.tranmicro.com/ I use for most stuff. You have to watch his prices though and I'm not sure if they ship out. Also you might try Micro Center www.microcenter.com/ as they occasionally have some great deals online as well as in the store. Tiger Direct is supposed to be very good as well.
