How is the money used from members signing up for the pro accounts, and where does the money from purchasing from zZounds through here go? I'm just curious. I don't think I would be anywhere in the field right now without this website and would really like to help it out. I am considering signing up for a pro account, but I just want to know how I'm helping. It's not that I think you're pocketing the money I'm just curious as to what aspects it's going towards. I understand web hosts can be pricy espcially with all the options available here. But then again there is enough advertisement I would think to cover that cost. I'm just curious please don't take this as a personal attack.

Your helping by making it worth my time to keep this site online...realize I have built and continue to build the technology behind this site on my own time...and I have the fortunate situation of having help of some very cool long-time members...

Any money I make goes into my business account just like any other branch of my business, is reported on my income and taxed...

Please Note Sarcasm:
any left over is just business income, so hurry up and join, so I can retire tomorrow.

Actually, much of last years income (2005) went to a Tsunami Relief effort after the Tsunami wipped out so much...but it did get me box seats to a Motley Crue concert with local radio personalities as a prize for the size of the donation.

Much of the proceeds goes toward new Kenpo belts for the dB-Wan family, and on painkillers after a heavy bout......

Bwahahahahaha!!!!

On a personal note, I really don't give a crap about what dB-Wan does with the loot (but as you can see, there's a heart of gold in there, dammit), as my Pro membership is worth every penny. If I were to buy magazines, books, videos, and music to the extent that the information is available on this site, I'd be seriously poor. Besides, the comeraderie, support, and general warm-and-fuzzies here are worth the price of admission. I'm not toadying here, just giving my 2 cents worth on why I am a pro member.
Imagine having a problem that's been vexing you for a while...You could go do a ton of research, read through pages of manuals.....or you could get a little note from someone in New Zealand, or Scotland, or Holland, or Ohio...saying, "Hey, I had that problem. Here's how you fix it." Fantastic.
HRC, it does what it says on the box. Connection...

hehehe, thanks TallChap :-)

Ya, the pain killer bills are getting pretty high...

But I am building this site to pay for that stuff www.midwest-mma.com :-)

What I have paid in two years of Pro memberships, I have received ten-fold. Literally. These people helped me figure out how to record, mix and master more effectively. As a result of HRC's knowledge and encouragement, I put together a CD of Civil War songs that I had written, centering around the Battle of Gettysburg. That CD has been selling online for a while, and I have sold over 75 of them. At $9.99 a pop...you do the math.

HRC pro has made me a better musician, and on some level, a better person.

Better stop before dB tears up...

Besides, where else can you see a video of a guy puking in his beer and then drinking it?

I think that is a bit personal but dB answered it gracefully.

I would still be a pro member if I wasn't so tied up with building the new studio. I have no time for collaboration or any of the other cool features like I used to. In fact, I had to get rid of cable and the blockbuster pass just to maximize my funds so that we could afford diapers and formula while building the new place. But patience is a virtue and I will once again go pro once we're open and I have some steady income.

Hey dB, you snuck that last part in there after I read through here once. Good show on the charity involvement. We're all on the same team.

Yeah, I figured out later I should probably include that sentiment in there since he wants to know what he's helping, as it was a decision on my part to give it away...

Not that it is really anyone's business what I do, I don't ask people what they do with their money...

It amazes me that people think HRC is some money-making-machine cuz it ain't...

Even though I'm not here much, it's definitely worth it. My sister gets mad at me cause she went to music school and now she's trying to set up her own recording studio and she says I know more about the stuff than she does...haha.

I keep on pestering her to sign up here too...lol.

$24 a year or whatever it is is dirt cheap. That's like... uhh... $2/month.. cheaper than a trip to starbucks or two double cheeseburgers at McD's if you live in a sales tax state...haha.

I've just re-subscribed after my first year, and I'm yet to use all the nifty little Pro features. I just like the site, benfit from it, and am willing to support the site based solely on that.

HRC - Episode III - The Money Making Machine!
Today, cyberspace.....Tomorrow....tada....
dB-Wan and his evil empire....rivalled only by the Bill Gates led rebellion...

Tune in next week, when you'll hear,
"Hello...I want to record my Stylophone solos on my sister's laptop....Do I need Pro-Tools?"

Yeah I've got no good excuse for never going HRC pro. I think I'll have to fix that soon. So am I the longest holdout yet? That's my excuse, I was going for the record...

You definitely deserve my financial support after all of the support I've received from the regulars here. I just thought of it as buying host space for my songs for the longest time, which I've never really needed. But its more than that, and I'll happily plunk down the change soon.

Yeah, Tad, you are one of the oldtimers that never joined...I think you deserve some sort of recognition for doing so :-)
