Jan 09, 2006 11:56 pm Sounds nice Bruno, possibly a bit too much in mid frequencies, but nice sound and playing.

Jan 10, 2006 06:41 pm Very nice tune Bruno. What mics did you use and how did you have them placed for this recording?
The rythm sounds as if the mic might have been a bit to far away from the guitar as the low end from the guitar body is very light. The lead guitar track doesnt sound too bad really, maybe a bit high on the mids as OD stated, again maybe mic placement has to do with that as well.
Very nice capture otherwise, and the tune is very enjoyable.

Jan 11, 2006 09:30 am Its always very good to hear your feedback. I verified the problem with the mids and fixed it with Har-Bal as well as the lack of body mentioned by Noise.
In this recording I used an MXL 603S, pointed to the 12th fret of the guitar about a feet away. What did not help at all in this recording was the quality of the instruments, mainly the rythm guitar that has a very closed and muffed sound.
I have uploaded a version(triste_eq.wma) treated with Har-Bal and would like to have your comments again about the changes you sugested.

I left the original version there in case you want to compare both.
Glad you liked that much Tony. :)
BTW this song was written by Tom Jobim, maybe you know him, one of the fathers of Bossa Nova.
thank you all again.

Jan 11, 2006 10:17 pm Tom Jobim was someone I learned of way back when we had a station here that played mostly smooth jazz stuff and they played a lot of his stuff.
Anyway, the new mix sounds better, fuller now. I will have another listen tommorrow as again it is late and I cant turn it up too much as there is someone sleeping in the next room. So I will have at it tommorrow and give it a better listen.
Jan 12, 2006 07:42 pm I listened to the EQed version. Is it my imagination or my ears... sounds a little out of balance -> the right side. Nice playing, very clear recording too! Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing...

Jan 12, 2006 10:05 pm Nice and even on my meters on my desk. The lead portion may lean ever so slightly toward the right. But it is not sounding out of balance here.
Jan 12, 2006 10:19 pm Probably my old abused ears... no surprise :)
