Hey guys,
I've been using Cubase SX and recently moved my whole system to a different location for a few days to record an upright piano. Anyhoo... for some reason I can not get anything to record from my mic'd amp. I have all my hardware set up the same as usual. I have a feeling this is software based. Here is a screenshot of what is going on in Cubase.
As you can see, there is a signal coming in from the mixer which is the guitar I'm recording but the track won't pick it up. Any ideas??
THanks!

Dec 08, 2005 10:51 pm Double check the connection pin's on your 2496. Hopefully none are broken. Although I should ask, are you getting full meter's on the main's input?
Also check the 2496's control panel mixer and make sure you have signal there as well.
Dec 09, 2005 10:22 am yes, I am getting a full meter read on the main input. The signal is definitly getting into the computer but it just won't record to the channel. I'll check the Delta settings when I get home tonight. Thanks Noize!
Cheers!

Dec 09, 2005 09:02 pm I would think then that it has to do with the way Cubase is assigning the driver's. But how did it get bunged up just from moving??
Very odd indeed. Hopefully somebody here running Cubase maybe has had a similar experiance and will catch this post.

Dec 12, 2005 03:43 pm Look in your ASIO inputs panel. If you started Cubase when all your inputs weren't hooked-up or "active" in the software mixer, Cubase turned them off. However, since you've got signal coming in... Check your Cubase routing. Are you inputting in one channel, doing effects send or something, and then recording that on another channel? Perhaps you don't have the output of the 1st "hooked" to the input of the second? Or, your effects aren't routed to where you think?
Jan 06, 2006 07:19 am I run Cubase SX3, unfortunately with different problems than you are having, for which I will create a new post soon. I definately agree with jmail in that it has something to do with VST connections or mixer bus configuration. I had the same problem when I did location recording last summer but I can't remember how I fixed it!
Also, anything that has relation to the transport. In transport> sync set up > if you're using ASIO sync, Recording capabilities might be altered somehow. Good luck

Jan 06, 2006 04:25 pm As mentioned, I think it's likely your connections in Cubase. The program has dropped them for some reason. Try going into the device set up, and making sure that your left/right, & stereo inputs are assigned, and active. Do the same with your outputs. I'm not familiar with the soundcard you have (I have a different card - EMu PCI0404 which has a Patchmix program), but make sure your drivers are up to date.
Since you have a signal coming in, you have a physical connection to your software, it's just the assignment to the input channels - and there to the tracks - that's likely not connected.
