Hi there to all the faithful. Just wondering of there is a name brand or certian group of plug ins that will be more than enough to produce the rich, professional sound of a major studio. Waves Platinum bundle? I've heard alot about the UAD powered plug ins.

Anybody have any feedback on this?

Wave's Platinum bundle here. PSP Vintage Warmer. Lexicon Pantheon Reverb. L3 Maximizer.

I have heard the UAD can be real finicky at times with several differant audio apps. And it doesnt play nice sometimes as well with other bit's of hardware.

Sounds great Noize.. thanks!

I also know that Auto Tune is abig studio staple and really no mainstream recording is done without it these days.. even if no one will admit to it.. what about the microphone modeler?

Is this Antares software of any real value?

Very funny Bleak. :-O

I use the Antares Mic modeler and it works pretty well. It really is just a glorified EQ with a comp and such thrwon into the mix. Then they tweak up a bunch of preset's to make it model the effect of using certain mic's. Darn good job of it as well.

As for Autotune, ya its a shame it is so over used now. Anyone can be a friggin star and not have to work really hard at it. Just look at Ashley Simpson for example.

I personally have started using the V-vocal pluggin that came with Sonar 5 Producer and it works great. You can crank it up and it doesnt have the nasty side effect's that Autotune does.

Most of the bns (big-name studio) "talent" (very loosely used term) you see on stage these days is not up there 'cause of their singing talents... It's more for the hip-moveage-factor, or if they don't have that, it's for the cleavage-pushage-up-factor... If they've got neither, dey ain't "singers"... "... gotta look good for my fans ..." Sorry - off topic.

A fellow a ways down the road uses Waves(I think he must have every one of them - wish I had that money...) in PT. He also has some external gear he uses, but I don't know what-all he uses or how, just yet. We just met via a friend's band and I've not had a chance to be completely humbled yet... But his garage/studio is quite nice.

Trust your ears my friend...because some "Pro's" use something doesnt give it any more credence in my book (see the millions of Pro-Tools v World debates) and I for one, will use anything if it does what I want.

Some of the best sounding guitar sims for example, I have heard, are FREE!!!

The simulanalog site proves this (check the links). The JCM on there is AWESOME...

www.kvraudio.com -for more plugs than you can ever dream off..free dont mean rubbish. I do agree at times you get what you pay for and dont dis Waves or anything BUT, check around for what you want in the KVR archives...you may be surprised.

I'll chime in for the Waves plug-ins as well. PSP vintage warmer is great, I've also come to dig a lot of free plug-ins from KVR. I'm not to big on the auto tune hardware or software because i like to keep the performance a real as i can (notice the wording "as i can") . Izotope makes some good stuff too( i dig Izotope trash) and I think everyone one shold have a BBE sonic maximiser.

I think the answer to the question "Which Plug-ins Do The Pros Use?" would really be.....

Anything that works.

It's going to depend on the song, the artist, the DAW, the sound they're looking for...

Any of these factors will affect the ..er...effects....
