Hey guys,
I know it has been a while since I first posted that I was building a new studio. I promised some pics too but I haven't been very good about that, so expect some pics after this weekend.
It's exciting to be so close to the end. Here's some details of the place:
1800sqft
Studio A has 5.1 and Control 24 console with PT HD3 Accel with a large tracking room and Iso
Studio B has ProControl with PT Mix system and an Iso for VO and Overdubs
Studio C is for MIDI production and Video Editting and DVD authoring
All this complete with stained concrete, floated floors, room within room construction, and about 3 houses worth of drywall.

Aug 03, 2005 10:21 pm El Musico,
What kind of soundproofing you use? techniques? how expensive it is per square feet? this is the most tricky part i havent solved yet.. maybe coz the cheap sponges I'm using I guess..lol
Cheers!

Aug 04, 2005 07:37 am Ciinx, the kind varies as does price. We haven't bought anything yet but we will treat the room according to its Modes, RT60, yada yada... basically by using various forms of diffusion/absorption. Common forms are Shroeder and diaphragmatic diffusors, Helmholtz Resonators, and 703 fiberglass. Of course ordering these things through manufacturers can be quite expensive... luckily we have some wood working/construction knowledge and can plug numbers into formulas to we can build these ourselves.
Funny how my understanding of Acoustics has progressed, hoodathunkit.

Aug 04, 2005 08:24 am Hey el musico, i just was looking over your profile, and tallcat productions website.
The alignment on the home page doesn't work in mozilla firefox. Just figured I'd let you know, in case someone there was interested in cross browser compatibility. It works fine in IE.
My sister and husband are in Black Canyon City. She's trying to do some recording on a PC at home, but they're pretty PC / recording illiterate. If they get inspired to do some real band recordings, I'll point them your way.
Aug 04, 2005 08:27 am hmmm, how about that, you're right, the div positioning is all funky...

Aug 26, 2005 01:31 pm Ok here's some pics:
here's the tracking room for Studio A... you're looking at Iso A on the left and the control room on the right.
Here's the control room looking out to the tracking room and the Iso
This is the beginnings of a floated floor in Iso A. The control room will be floated as well.

Aug 30, 2005 10:17 am How did you go about getting the property for this studio? Is it residential or did you actually buy/lease your building that you are contructing this work of art in? Just kind of want to know because I am thinking very heavily about doing something similar.
