Hello, I have a problem when I play back the recorded tracks. The volume level change when the drums start playing. lest say that the vocals and guitar start first at volume 6 and when drums and bass get in, the rest of the instruments volume level go down to lest say 3 or 4,like a limiter or compressor, the thing is I don't want this to happen. I am not putting any limiter or compression .Could be possible that is a default setting for this machine?
Please help me guys. Thanks

Welcome to HRC!

I'm not familiar with the vs880, maybe somebody else here is.

But I do know that when I have a lot of tracks going at once and they are really loud and no EQing done yet so everything is basically wide open, you will get that drowning out sound. Try turning the drums all the way off and then see if the volume changes on the rest of the tracks when it did with the drums on. It's probably not this but that was the first thing that popped in my head.

eeeeeeemo.

is it also possible that some of the frequencies from the drums (most likely cymbals and kick drum) are cancelling out some of the frequencies form the other instruments? eq-ing would fix this problem - if you give each instrument it's own space in the frequency spectrum.

sorry if this is what you meant by the drowning out sound dale!

On the master fader You have a choice of Input and output levels, have you changed from "in" to "tr". I have the 1680 but don't get this problem, perhaps if WYD is about he will be able to answer a bit better cause he used on before as well (1680 that is)

I asked my friend who owns an 880, and he hasn't run into this problem.

Thank you very much guys. Problem is fixed now and I'll tell you what the problem was.
I was using wire less headphones and I learned now that it is not a good idea to use this type of headphones for multitrucks recording.
I have now new pair of phones and every thing is normal.
Thanks again
