Well, since I'm on the website and part of this community every single day, I want to let everyone in on something. I will be asking my girlfriend to marry me this weekend. We planned a weekend at Myrtle Beach to get away and she has no clue I'm going to ask. I got the ring yesterday (I am now officially broke) and going to ask her Saturday night. I know she'll say yes but I probably be a little nervious before hand. Wish me luck!

We've been together about 7 months. Yes that might not seem long but we really get along great and everything. Her home situation was horrible and my parents took her in to live with us. So, we basically are married without all the benefits and such. It's going to be a long engagement because I want her to finish her schooling because it's harder when you're married.

Thank you everyone!

I know it's still 3 days away but I'm starting to get nervous!

I knew I was going to marry her when you think about life without her being there everyday and you then know what you really have. So, we're going to write it in stone this weekend!

Sample it.....I can see me dragging a laptop, cords, mic and then asking her to "test 1..1...test 2...2" on the mic with her asking what in the world I was doing!

Na, just use any mini recorder you can find. Dont even let her know you sampled it. Then write a tune around it. Give it to her for a wedding present.

i've been playing with a little digital recorder, olympus (radio shack) vn-240pc. We picked it up cause we've been running into total buttheads with our business dealings, and wanted to 'try' to keep people honest. Anyway, this thing is small (smaller than a small cell phone) and pickes up pretty good audio (for voice, not music). It has a usb plugin, but i can't get it to load the drivers for xp. It has earphone out, plus mic in. I've used it several times in meetings with it in my pocket, and if you're all in the same room, it picks up everything pretty well. The wearer might be louder than everyone else, but it works pretty good. around 80$

Well, Saturday night, we went walking on the beach when it was getting dark. I stopped, asked my lady what was that on the chair out on the beach. Picked up a cherry wood color box and gave it to her. She thought it was left there and din't want to open it. She opened it anyway to find an engagement ring. I got on one knee and poppped the question. So, we are now engaged! Thanks for all the encouragement guys!

I'll tell you this, it's the hardest job I have ever had, that marriage business...I consider myself a pretty motivated, hard working person and a good provider for my family...I still listen to **** about everything I don't do...but, that's why I have a heavy-bag in the basement...womens is weird, no matter how much you do, there is always something you didn't.

I better stop right now, cuz personally, it's something I may go off about, as I am really pissed of about it the last few days...

Oh yeah, I've already had to deal with that. I already supply about everything for my fiance. My nice Acura that I let her take wherever, food, money at times because she's a student with no income. After all of this, if she gets on me because I forgot to pick up something at the store from a 12 hour day at work, that drives me up the wall. Hey, you have my 25 thousand dollar car, you go get it. I don't yell at her at all or anything. I just let her know that I'm handling everything, please do your part. Guess you can say I put my foot down from the get go to be fair and it's gotten alot better. I love my fiance and it's hard to talk to them about something they think "you should have handled".

Yeah, my wife has an opinion, input or a ***** about every damn thing that comes out of my mouth, now my two little girls are starting to do it too (a little bit, but noticable), and quite frankly, it's pissing me off. I am a 200%, completely different person since we got married, but I don't get treated any different.

I've gotten to the point now where my kids are getting disciplined by me for it to straighten them out early, and my wife, well, I just laugh it off...which just makes it worse...

such is life.

The thing I have learned is that ya can't get too caught up in the moment...it's the ebb and flow of a lifetime together...ya have good times, and bad times...kinda the way it rolls.

So, I am here wishing you more good than bad :-)

congrats vdale, one of my personal tidbits from years of togetherness and tons of disagreements :

marriage is not 50-50, you'll both feel you're giving more than your fair share. Which will be true. To come out balanced, it seems that you both have to sacrifice 70%, or more. I think if you both keep that in mind, the days will be much smoother.

Good on ya both.

Even I managed to make it through 20 years of marriage so far, 23 years together total. dB can tell ya there was a little rocky period a little while ago, but we got through it. It still aint a bed of roses, but that is what the studio is for. My hiding place. Close the door, light a candle, and play my anger away. It works when the kids tick me off as well.
