I traded in a weekend with the in-laws for a weekend at home stripping wallpaper and painting. I definately got the better of that deal!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dang! I missed "Alice's Restaurant" this morning!

Well, I didnt miss Alices Resturaunt. That would have been scralige in my case. I dont think I have missed it but once since Cities 97 started doing it way back when.

And yes indeed, just got home from my parents house and am stuffed to the gill's. I do believe I ate too many spiced apples with my pumkin pie for desert and they didnt sit well with the pickled onions and green bean casserole of which I ate about half the dish of.

Anyway, time to settle in and becoem one with the couch.

thanksgiving metabolite pathway:

"Tryptophan serves as the precursor for the synthesis of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT, see also Biochemistry of Nerve Transmission) and melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine)."

I gotta remember to bring my MD and record the sounds of people stuffing their collective faces and then those who lean back or curl up on any furniture or floor space they find and begin snoring like they havent slept in ages. Now that would make for a wonderfull soundtrack indeed.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving...Hope everyone holiday was plentiful!!

I didn't get a chance to be on here at all during my 4 day weekend...Between eating, drinking, painting 2 rooms, shopping, disconnectiong-moving-reconnecting- the studio...I never touched the internet...Come wednesday a 4-day weekend looked good...Looking back I mostly worked...LOL

I will post pictures up soon...I got my workspace painted a near navy blue, with some halogen track lighting on a dimmer switch...It looks sharp so far with the floor being hardwood...

Although one word comes to mind....REVERB....

I got 36 tiles of 2" from this mastering job I am doing...4 years worth of experience tell me that won't be enough...but will kill it somewhat...

Nothing is really new...same stuff...

I am all for honesty...So to be honest I simply moved in with my significant other who has a house...and she wanted me to have a dedicated room for my stuff...so we painted a spare room...changed the typical bedroom light fixture to a hologen track fixture with dimmer...

I am just happy that I can accommodate others within and her 'crowd' consists of entertainers. Even she owns a small collection of orchestral instruments, modern/classical acoustic guitars & takes voice lessons...and no carpet in there, so no static...

I will have some pics up on my site tomm...

last year, hue, that same uncle tried to poison me. i told him i wouldnt be eating any scallions due to the (extremely localized) hepatitis outbreak that year. he had said his cranberry spread had scallions in it. (im weird about germs--even if theres a remote possibility of some weird disease i usually cant help but abstain.) he gets here and swears he didnt include any scallions. i take some on a cracker and go to taste and i notice there's a twinkle in his eye. i pretended to swallow. he laughed, and i went to spit it out. this was entirely deliberate.

Jason,

Sounds like we had a bit of a similar weekend. I had a band over in the dog house (origional family room now studio) for review of a few mixes for them. I clicked on a little space heater as we keep the house fairly cool in the winter. Stepped into the garage for a smoke and things got real quiet. Looked back and things were also real dark. They never said a word just sat there in the dark. I knew it was comming. You know a piece of gear here and there throughout the year. A few lights and such. Well there was half of Sunday fishing walls and droping another 20 amps into the doghouse. Worked out pretty well actualy. The christmas decorations were in the same atic space that I had to access to do the wiring, so we are decorated for Christmass too!

Jason:

I've read (and seen) dimmer switches to introduce some real buzz in the computer.

Just a thought, should you get some un-expected hum/buzz/noise in your audio.

Sounds like fun Walt!! lol

Thanks pjk...I will be sure to look out for that.
As for buzz...I have been talking of building a PC being mine is a 6 year old Pent 2 which buzzes but not in my recordings...

And if the buzz your speaking of is RF noise...the dimmer I bought is built that rids of RF noise...So far so good...

Thanks for the lookout!! As I said I will be sure to look out for it...just in case!

On Topic:

Hope everyone had a good t-day. Had the family clan over to my house, and everything turned out great. We got done painting the kitchen just in time for the holiday.

On a music aside: my cousin's new husband, George, has been a guitar player for many years. We sat and jammed on acoustics for awhile and he started showing me some of his original stuff. It was amazing. This guy could swap places (at least very closly) for Chet Atkins. Melodic and flowing finger picking, while being complex and captivating. He's never recorded any of his stuff (around 400 songs) before and is interested in having me record some songs / demos. Probably some short samples on 2 CDs. Unfortunately, they are moving sometime in january or so. ugh.
