Hi everyone,
It has always been a dream of mine to make or attempt to make my own music.
I'm a newcomer to Music Technology, and need some help.
Have just found this brilliant forum and wondered if there is anyone that can recommend any good user friendly books on music technology?
Many thanks
Jamie.

Nov 10, 2004 06:13 am Hi Everyone
Many thanks to all who responded to my cry for help. Over the weekend I have been surfing the net in attempt to find additional resources. Don't know if any of you are familiar with 'The Cut The Crap Guide To Music Technology'. Found this book on www.artemismusic.com/page.php?id=73 looks very good! I have ordered a copy and will let you know what it is like when I receive it. In the mean time please continue to send me any helpful tips.
Cheers
Jamie.
Nov 10, 2004 07:00 am Agree with Hue - read the articles on this site.
I read em all at least once when I started with PC recording about a year ago - the best help I found ANYWHERE they were.
I still read the new ones and often revisit old ones - timeless!!
Cheers, welcome and good luck
Coco.
Nov 10, 2004 04:22 pm Hey Jamie...I'm with Hue and Coco on this one...our recordings aren't of the calibre of Coco's...but I think the articles here give a good overall picture.
The threads tend to give more specific assistance bcos they tend to be about problem solving...its pretty cool... :-)...on the one hand finding you're not a complete ejit and on the other being able to get advice...and for free!
I use the search facility at the top of this page as well...to see whether others might have had similar experiences to me re problems...
Then, when I've formulated my question I can start a thread if I want.
We've been here since April officially, but probably since about January researching...it gave us the confidence to buy gear when it was on special or second hand...and we set our studio up in about August...I think.
Good luck to you and hope this is helpful...
Cheers,
BM
Nov 10, 2004 05:05 pm Just one other thing Jamie...when its just you looking to buy gear...all that's standing between you and your hard earned cash at any given time...is you, your comparative research, significant others opinions and the salesperson.
At HRC you get to know who uses what, and generally listen to their recordings...and listen to them all debating the features of this gear/that gear etc...all on the basis that they are the actual users...can't say better than that. :-)
Cheers again,
BM
