id bring the vocal up slightly in the mix, with a little more top end, and a touch of reverb.

a little reverb on the drum track might help, dunno though. or maybe some delay, with the second hit just after the first, just to thicken it out.

this is the best thing youve done in ages though dude, really like this one...two thumbs up!

reverb on drums- got it, and mabye a little delay. vocals hmmmm. are you talking eq? push the high up a bit? or take out some bottom end?

id up the highs a little, and leave the bottom end...ive been messing about with some of my tracks recently which have a vocal sound very similar to yours, so that'd be well worth a try.

listening...

vocals seem a little boomy at times, maybe they could stand to be EQ'ed, wish i could be more specific. they just seem to be fighting a little with the guitar. or maybe the guitar needs EQ'd to give the vox some room to breathe. maybe even a little compression on them too; i noticed the vox getting louder at certain parts, unless of course that's the idea you were going for.

blueninjastar wrote this article www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=154 which explains EQ using these images that made perfect sense to me. what i'm saying is, maybe the vox and guitar need to be EQ'd so they don't clash anymore.

ya i read it a couple of times, and its gotten me this far..... but it seems like i get lucky once in a while with eq. and sometimes (like now) its just "not right" i know what i want to hear (sort of) but i cant get it.
in my software ive got 10 band eq. that i can put on each track. then during the mix- on the software mixer ive got 4 band on the board on each track, then ive got 4 band on the master. thats a bunch of knobs and sliders and i cant quite achieve the "perfect type of sound"
frustrating to have a pretty good song and at a loss to get it just right.

tony, I know exactly how you feel! Here is what I suggest that sometimes works for me(which has nothing to do with technical ideas for your mix).

Take a break from the tune for a few days... Don't listen to it at all(I have to sort of force myself to do this). Then, come back to it! Sometimes I feel like I can try to hard to get what I hear in my head for the mix...

The point is, that if you take a break from the mix you can usually come up with something more creative and "fresh" because your rested from it! (At least this idea works for me)

Good luck

well i messed with it. couldnt leave it alone shred..... its in my head and wont leave....... im losing it.
so if you have time goto the same spot and overwrite the old file. itll still be song.mp3 but its fixed. or at least changed. im going down to listen to it on a real system and check it out......

well, i think its fixed up pretty good. the drums flame, came out really well, and the vocal has lost that boomy thing that was happening. its leveled out and sounds right. thanks for the help
