I just bought this book. I'm not even through the first chapter and so far, it seems pretty good. Has anyone read this or heard anything about it?

Sep 15, 2003 12:46 pm Just an FYI, IDG books, while making decent layman's terms books, are a very nasty, heartless company run by a bunch of jack-booted thugs. I am glad you like the book, and it has worked for you, but I personally have to say that I don't recommend anyone support this bunch of losers. I will spare you the details, but suffice it to say they would like to sue me and shut down HRC just because the site now has the word "dummies" on it.
In the "Recommended Reading" links on the front page are several other good books and mags to choose from as well.
Sep 15, 2003 01:41 pm i must say i have this book too ... and this site helps 100% more than that book does... i havent picked it up since the 3rd day i had it... well only to dust...
Sep 15, 2003 06:28 pm I bought this book as well and read most of it...I think i only have 3 or 4 chapters to go. I found it helpful, of course I'm just learning about this stuff and havnt had much hands on material, so I really dont know how accurate it is. If we can assume it is accurate, it really does teach you alot in a short amount of time. I'll finish it, but I'll probably read more from other books to confirm it as well.
