I have 256MB RAM and I am starting to feel that it isnt enough. Many DX plugins overload the system. If you tell me that the more RAM the more smooth the mixing I will go for a 1024MB update!

Apr 07, 2003 05:07 pm When it comes to RAM, there really isn't any such thing as enough. Especially when you're using a lot of DX plugins. I have 768MB of RAM in my 2.4G P4 and I still run into trouble from time to time. If you can upgrade to 1024MB, I say go for it!

Apr 07, 2003 08:23 pm Jeeezus!!! What plugin's are you running blue? I've got 512 and don't have too many issues!
Must be all those TDM plugins :D
How's the switch going btw?
Apr 07, 2003 08:28 pm Not TDM, but just no VST because PT is too lame to support them! And I'm not sure why I run run into this problem. It might just be that PT is a resource hog in and of itself. I haven't made the switch yet. I'm going to work on that tonight.
Apr 07, 2003 10:40 pm i'm running "only" 384MB and I'm forever choking my system up when I add more than a few effects processor plugins. My old Pentium III board supports the PC133 RAM chips which are *really* getting affordable these day. I might have to bump mine up to 768MB before long.
Get as much RAM as your budget/mainboard allow.
