My first new guitar since age 17 (that I kept)

Yup, I bought and Ibanez 470s when 17 and have not loved anything as much since. I have purchased and resold a few but never wanted to keep them.

Well I am now turning 34 next month and decided I deserve one :) Plus the fact that the state of AK is giving me $3200 for each family member does not hurt :)

So, the EC-1000 Deluxe in vintage black with gold hardware is now mine. The cutaway is roomy enough for my fat hands (reason I can't stand les paul normally) to reach the high frets and the action is very similar to my ibanez.

Not a smoking deal but comes with an extra EMG85, case, chord, etc... Fair price for sure.

I gotta agree, nice to look at.

Have you slept with it yet???

I've been looking at a hollow body electric at my buddies MGR store and think I might jump on it tomorrow. I've been wanting one for years and just never found one that appealed to me to keep around here. But this one is a nice brownish cherry natural and plays so nicely and sounds just great. I may have to just twist my own arm though.

Oooooh. Nice guitar! How are the frets on it? I had an Ibanez years ago. The only thing that I didn't care for all that much was the depth of the frets.

I always loved the way it sounded. Plus, the fact that it was light. During that time I also had a Hohner ST Lynks. A great sounding guitar, but, God was it heavy!

Hollow body, mmmm boy I would love one of those for my punkabilly songs. I have been fond of a hollow body gretsch with a bigsby for some time now. I figured I should get a standard rig first and hopefully pick up the gretsch later on.

Just picked it up tonight. It is nothing too fancy but sounds great. It is a Washburn HB-32-DM, brownish with a hint of red. Nice natural dark wood with this cool looking antique bronze hardware. I'll get a pick up in the next day or two.

pjk, thanx a bunch for popping that up. Only dif with mine is it has the numbered dial type slim knobs, and the lettering and graphic are white. The grover tuners are a bonus and solid as a rock. I'm still debating the pickups in it though. They are pretty hot but clean up nicely. I called DiMarzio to see if they can wind me a set that will work well in it and retain the nice sound. But I will play it with the stock pickups for awhile to see if I want to go that route or not.

I'll still get a pick up of the one I got but that is pretty much it. Nice thin line hollow body and I am loving the neck for sure.

Like the looks of your choice too Noize. All we now need are some sound bytes...

Sound bytes will be a week or so off yet. I'll likely be using it on a couple of tracks for a client then so I'll post a few tidbits of it.

I went ahead and threw up a quick soundbite. 1:30 of a quick ska song idea, just wanted to capture it so I won't forget. Drums are from Auditions "loopology" collection that came with my purchase.

I was also able to play through a Peavey JSX and my Ampeg ReverbRocket yesterday, both sounded fantastic and any style was within reach. And I almost forgot "The Sustain!!!", it is ridiculous and lasts for as long as I want :)

But yeah, sound bite is under my profile and will be a full song soon I hope.

Thanks for the clip Cpt. It sounds awesome and I think you have two winners here: the new guitar and a fine song. The recording sounds very good already.

Hey thanks, very rough layout with some of those "on the fly" noodles through it, seems like it may work out well with the right vox. I have a big long sexy intro worked out for it too, something a female vocalist would really shine on.

WoW, nicely done for sure. Ray was in here listening with me and he thought it was great as well. We both dug the sound of the guitar, and the licks as well.

I do wanna hear were you go with this. Tearing it up all the way through would be an interesting angle on this one as well.

Not sure I can compete with those licks though for my sound bytes.

Thanks Noize, I was dinking with it more and although there will be plenty of jammin I will definitely be leaving most of it free and clear for some vox.

I have been trying to piece together a second band for months now with a more "*** shaking" vibe than my current one, this song will be for that project. I have em all together except the bassist, he just aint showing up and is spoiling my good times :) I do have a female singer who has a great voice, is gorgeous and 25. Seems I can't go wrong if I can keep her interested.

I can come up and keep her interested if you would like. :-O

Seriously though. Ya, I didn't figure you would keep all the lick's in. But it sure sound great with them ripping through there.
