Hang 'em High....

So I've received the nod of assent from 'er indoors to decorate the main wall of the new dining room with my guitars. I figure that the area where they will be close to chair backs (or at least the heads of those dining) will be electrics, and I'll fit in the acoustics at the sides.

So, my question de jour is:
Who has a recommendation for a quality wall hanging bracket for guitars? Or a nice trick to make them?

I used to have them hanging in my stairwell before we moved (I have no stairs now), and I'd built my own rack from 1x2s and hardware store "ironing board" hooks. Looked very cool, but now I need individual hooks.
Plan is for about seven guitars to go up (I'm pushing for more...hehehehe).

Hercules ones.... let me find the link. I like them cause they grip the guitar and you can then hang them sideways if needed.

The string swing is what I've been using for years. Not bulky or gaudy at all. Nice wood and sturdy as hell. Holds some pretty heavy stuff.

Well, no tricks here for sure, but I made my own. Started with 1x3 oak. Looking at them (not measuring) I made them about 4.5" long or so. Routed the edges to match other woodworking here in the doghouse. Made two for each guitar. One with two dolls in at an angle and a small block between the dolls for spacing from the wall. Covered the center block with felt and put surgical tubing (clear) over the dolls. That one is obviously the hanger. The second one is the same size with no dolls or block; only felt and resides behind the back of the guitar body to keep it off the wall. Stained it with a golden oak to match the other built in furnature holding the mixer, monitors, cd's, books, etc, and the fireplace. Toped the whole mess of with a novel little oak table top mounted on a drum stool, (minus the seat pad obviously).

I use string swing as well. Looks nice, works well. And you can bend them slightly to accomodate wider or thinner necks.

Nice one guys. Walt, the idea of blocks behind the guitars to keep them off the wall hadn't occurred to me at all. Nice!

I'll have a look at the StringSwing. Looks like the wood will compliment the kitchen. The Hercules look a little too industrial for my liking.

Maybe in the future I'll install some niches with lights to show off the good ones. For now, it will be like eating at Banjo-centre.

Velcro???????

We use these foam-covered 'tool hangers' that we found at Miejers for 4$ a piece . Perfect for guitars/basses, look great(grey/black), and very inexpensive .

I use the hercules auto grabbers. Mounted 3 to a nice piece of wood and hung that from some studs.

Another vote for String Swing...not cuz they are great or anything, just cuz that is what my buddy sells at his store...

Never had any guitars fall so...well...they are great then I guess.

Simple enough design.

That looks cool Walt.

Never seen that Hercules thingy before, pretty heavy duty looking. I would have liked those in my playing out days.
