Finally! My 'live' guitar sound makes me happy .

Experimenting with my gear last night, I finally happened across what I consider to be a sound I can work with for live siuations, ie... band practice, gigs, and live-recording .

I ran the CDX-1(sample station) in/out of the sterio fx loop of my Fender amp, and from out of the headphone-out of the CDX-1 into my Crates power amp in .

The result: Ka-CHUNK ! Not so much a 'metal chunk', but one killer hard rock sound ! The pre on the Fender drives the Crate's amp, and the CDX-1 has all the verb, delay, and modulation I'll need . The Crate's Celestion speaker adds the chunkyness I was missing from the Fender . Micing both should produce some interresting results... warm/chunky Crate, mixed with the bright/singing Fender .

I'm geeked guys ! I think it's a big help to have a sound that you REALLY like, initially, as apposed to fixing things in the channel after recording .(Which is what I've had to do for the longest time.) Now I can play ! : p

Three cheers!! That is cool man, I love my 50W ampeg reverbrocket and get comments all the time from other band members. I cannot obtain a "true" metal tone (close though) as it is just not built for it. It is warm, fuzzy, and the reverb is fantastic on what is one of the sweetest sounding clean channels I've played though.

Oo, yeah, I heard a guys Reverbrocket years ago, in a house, that sounded awesome. Plugged straight in, turned up loud. Sweeeeet.

Congrats on the tonal nirvana. I'm still a long way off, I think.

I agree, that finding your sound will greatly improve your confidence and playing, making for much better takes.

Cool beans!

Thanks guys !

I can hardly believe that at 38 years old, I'm even considering starting another hard rock project... I guess that means I'm a 'lifer' . = p

Things are sounding better every day...

Last week I installed another Delta44 to be able to get everyone on for live recording . No hitches, 12 in/out = more happiness .

If everything goes well, y'all will have lots to listen rocritique (good or bad) from the Bulimic Walrus crew, and our new rock and roll band: "LOG" .

Cheers, guys !

LOG?

It must stand for something, do tell wont you?

Congrats from here as well. Having been down that road before it is heaven when you get what you want. In the 70's I found a little piece of it for awhile by running a little Gretcsh 15 watt in front of my Orange. Using the Gretsch as sort of a pre Pre amp if you will. The sound was killer live.

Glad ya got another 44 in line as well with no problems. Thats what I like about some of M-Audio's stuff. It just plain works easily.

Oh yeah... having a session now, and things are sounding much better .

And hell-yeah, M-Audio rocks ! It did do one weird thing, though... It put the second card first in the mixer . Matters not .

Oh yeah... "L.O.G."

uhm... "Lords Of Green" .

Whatever .

Don't really care about what the name is... MUCH more concerned about what the music sounds like .

Anyway, there's some new photos in the 'ol profile . Once we tweak all the inputs, we'll offer up some live sessions... prolly in the next coupl'a weeks .

Sweet, can't wait to hear them.

The pix, pretty interesting. Caption fits the look on yours. Like your pissed at something or someone. The went, looks like himself. Juan, looks as though he has a questionable past. :-O

Liked the poster though. did you do that with the free app that guy posted last week or whenever it was?

Done .

This is the 'actual' song, as it was originally written(sans vox) of the tune that WYD, Jason, and I did a rendition of a while back when I visited him .

"Stride" in my profile, is about one womans cellabration of her own permiscuosity . uhm... yeah .

'Ees getting there, senoir . : p

word up! i'm throwin' it on my ipod to give her a listen tonight....that'd be totally cool if our informal jam resulted in an actual song!

Actually, the song you hear in my profile now was written back in, oh... 2000... you, Jason, and I touched on the extro-riff when I visited . We pretty much wrote it into a two-minute song, instead of the 30 second crescendo-thing that it was originally written as .

Had to listen a bit quieter tonight. I'll give another listen tomorrow though as it sounds very kick axe. Interesting guitar tone if I might say so as well. May I ask the processing on the intro and interlude guitar sound?

Nice interesting jammy feel to it for sure. The reverb in certain parts gave me a very surf punk feel for sure. And the whammy parts made it even a more violent sounding reverb. You shoulda kicked it to make the springs shake like hell. I used to smack my twin reverb for that all the time with it cranked up all the way. It drove my mother and most other people nuts.
