I was playing a gig this weekend and the sound setup had a box with like 12 XLR inputs. The box then had 1 cable coming out and going like 50' back to the main soundboard where obviously the XLR's were plugged into the board. What is this box called??
This is perfect for us to use when we have to play a gig with our own PA. As it stands now, I have to setup our board off to the side of the stage, and it's impossible for anyone we have mixing to get a real sense of whats happening because of their position to the left or right of the stage. To be out like 50feet in front of the stage is awesome. How can we achieve this, on the cheap side??

they ain't cheap and you don't want a "cheap" one...they get stepped on, tripped over, chairs set on them and a plethora of other stuff...not to mention it's 50 more feet of cable waiting for interference...

Sounds like you just need a simpple cable snake.
I'm not sure why the hardware box is necessary that almost sounds like a patch bay but for what you need, a simple cable snake should be enough I would imagine.

I only needed a 20' snake so I bought this one. Seems to be built pretty good to me and it is half the price.

Yeah, you can get smaller ones a bit cheaper, if you need lots of channels, tho where BeerHunter linked even a 16 channel is under a couple hundred dollars...not bad...

One of the best investments I've made in our studio was a custom made 60 ft Mogami 8 channel snake at close to $500 dollars to set up a drum room. It was worth every penny.

I ended up getting a $100.00 49' snake from AV Link. I tested out all the channels and all of them are working fine. Now are there any ideas on how to keep people from tripping on the main cord that goes from the stage out to the Mixer, and the Speaker cables that go from the Mixer back up to the speakers??
