So I'm going to buy some new toys...
Why? Because I can. No real reason.
1.) New acoustic. Probably a custom built thingy by my friend (a fabulous luthier in PA). Will take some time (and money..)
2.) Possibly a corner guitar rack for my bedroom (I have the blessing of 'er indoors).
3.) Thinking about a Squier '51 for fun.
4.) Possibly a new sound card to upgrade from my EMU PCI0404. Suggestions? I don't need hundreds of inputs, but I do need S/PDIF optical, MIDI, and audio in/out.
5.) New pickups for a couple of my guitars...still in the research phase.
Woohoo.

Jan 24, 2007 02:02 pm db likes his pickups, though they're a little more $$$ than a set of SD or something.
I love my taylor 12, but if possible, i'd probably get a custom built one too =).
That 8pre looks mighty sweet, for 550.
Jan 24, 2007 04:26 pm Two of my mates have bought Turner acoustics, they are £1000 cheaper than Taylor and seem pretty good guitars.I have played a Taylor, they are very good.
Jan 24, 2007 05:51 pm Let me know what you think of the Squire '51. I was thinking of getting one for giggles, too.
At the very least, it'll do to smash up in a drunken stage-rage some night....

Jan 24, 2007 06:13 pm Someone else on here got one, and posted a mp3 of him playing. It sounded very nice, belying it's low price.
He also put up a jpg of himself, with cool colors and a jamaica-style theme.
I can't remember his username though, hmm.
Trinidad, maybe. I think that's it. The country, i mean, not his username. I can't remember that.

Jan 24, 2007 07:26 pm Found it. And it does sound nice. Looks pretty cool, too.
It will compliment my Jaguar, nicely.

Jan 25, 2007 11:07 am Thanks for the input people.
My buddy the luthier is probably going to be the way I go. He's a total slut when it comes to his wood stock, and has some eye-popping stuff. He can also make arch-top jazz-boxes. One he made is worth over $15000.00, so he knows what he's doing. He helped me build my custom bass, and inlaid a stunning rose into the headstock in abolone and mother-of-pearl.
My plan is to send him a few rough tracks of my playing style, and give he free reign to make something that will work. The new pickup/mic for acoustics from Seymour Duncan is sweet, so I may have one of those thrown in there.
As for the pickups on the others, here's my ideas:
Strat: Fender Vintage Fat 50's. Veddy nice.
Schecter: Bridge/Pearly Gates; Neck/something like a PAF
Yes? No?
The Squier '51 looks like great fun. I believe a few people here already have one.
