I have seen where quite a few guitarists on this forum go direct from their Behringer V-AMP into their DAW or what have you, bypassing Micing their Amp. Can I effectively do this with my Digitech RP100?? Are these 2 devices relatively the same creature from different manufacturers?? Thanks.

I'd say so, but not all the way similar. The vamp has cabinet modelling, i believe, so it'll sound more like a mic'ed amp.

the rp100 may only have effects, not actually modelling, so your results may vary.

They will perform the same function, though, so you can plug your line level output, into your line level input on your DAW/soundcard.

Hi mclir9, I have the RP50 and it has cabinet modelling so I'm pretty sure that the RP100 does as well. I would have to say yes, they are basically the same except for the obvious.

Somebody posted their first song here in the last 6 months or so, and they used an RP100 or RP50. I have to say I was pretty impressed as far as modellers go. It had a cool sloppy kind of indie low-gain sound to it.

I think they are great modellers for the price. I am more than happy with mine. About the only problem with them is that they would not be suitable for gigging. There is an audible noise switching patches and it doesn't appear to be very rugged. Messing with the settings can produce some great results.

I've just finished tracking some guitar solos using just my RP-80. I used the Marshall type patch (with cabinet emulation), and I'm really very happy with the sound (Patch #2 - unaltered - with a dual humbucker Schecter). I added some reverb (VoxengoOldSkoolReverb) in the DAW, but that's it. Very close.
