Hooking a Berhinger UB802 up to pc

Hello everyone..

After a long while I finally got some new equipment, a new mic and mixer. The Behringer UB802.

I've just hooked it up to my pc for the first time and when I talk into the mic I hear myself talking in the speakers. But then when I want to record something in either Kristal or Adobe Audition 2.0 nothing is being recorded.

I think it may have something to do with the connections.. here's how it's connected right now:

Stereo RCA cabel going one end into the Mixer Tape In (left) and the other end in the Soundcard Line-Out.

Then another RCA cabel with one end going into the Mixer AUX/FX send and the other end into the Soundcard Line-In.

And finally my speakers are connected to the Mixer's "Phones" entrance.

I'm probably doing something really stupid here but I don't have a clue how I should hook it up and if I'm using the right cabels. If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it a lot :)

I've looked at these before, I don't think you can hook these up so that you can have live signal going in, plus hear the old tracks being played out, while keeping them separate.

You'd have to connect your speakers to the line outs on your sound card. Then hook your mixer main outs to the line ins on your soundcard.

I could be wrong, I haven't actually played with one, but the block diagram makes me think this way.

Thanks I will try that.

I just noticed that my pc settings weren't right anyways, I've got a standard Realtek soundcard and software on it at the moment and in the Realtek soundcard Audio manager where you can select your recordingdevice it was still set on Mic and not Line connection.. I had never thought about changing settings in there, didn't think I needed too change anything there.

Oh well, it's late and I will try again tomorrow with the right software setting and probably your connection idea aswell.

Yep, in the audio control applet, turn off everything except for line in (normally).

I'm thinking you may want to upgrade from that built-in sound interface.

you probably already knew that though . . .

Yeah that was the idea. Basically to begin with I got a new pc and wanted to go from a msn type of mic to a "real" mic and mixer. I figured the soundcard will come later

Hey Im using the same mixer a Beringher 802, going into my delta, then using cakewalk as the recording software. Berhinger's web site has a cool diagram for hookups which i have used. They recomend using the aux sends into line in on sound card. and line outs back into the aux returns. Works well for me. hope that helps, then i have my main outs from the 802 into an old pioneer amp which gives me the external sound. but I mostly use my headphones.
