PODxt Problem

I have my PODxt connected to my computer via a USB cable but it doesnt play nice with my Sonar. Rather than the PODxt being added to the list of sound card connections, it just takes over as the only one. So in order to record it, I have to close my project, turn on the PODxt then re-open the project and record and then close the project and turn off the PODxt and then re-open the project and it will recognize all of my other gear thats connected.

I am looking to record with two TRS instead anyway but I still want the USB connected for using Line 6 Edit at the same time. So can someone tell me how to thwart this PODxt take over?

I dont have an answer for you but I have just noticed a similar problem. I changed my M-Audio drivers to ASIO and My XT live takes over everytime I turn it on first and then open my Sonar home studio. Same as yours my M-audio drivers do not even show up as an option. Sorry I didnt have anything to offer but I will be watching this to see if anyone has an ideas right along with you.

is there any way you can control the xt with midi instead of usb? we had a pod pro hooked up via midi and could do all the cool extras through that...das about all i can think of.

Well I still don't know why the PODxt takes over like that but I got around it. I don't have any open MIDI ports on my sound card at the moment so I used my M-audio MIDIsport Uno to do the trick.

That way I can still use USB but the PC doesnt pick up the PODxt ASIO signal since it isnt USB audio as well. Now I can control the PODxt in the edit software while also recording it in Sonar without a hassle :)

Maybe you can try something similar Diemusik if you can't get to the root of the problem.

Goldenmean, I leave my USB hooked up all the time. I just disable the PODxt audio port in Sonar and never enable it. That is the bummer with USB/ASIO devices. You can only run one device at a time. The same thing happens if I want to use the Toneport UX-2 via the USB audio connection, but it doesnt just commandere the audio drivers. Everytime you want to switch an ASIO device you need to shut down the recording application to make the changes take effect, and that is true with them all. I honestly dont know why they couldnt implement it like the do with WDM and MME drivers, but alas, that is the way it is.

Thats a pretty good idea guys. I have one of those MIDIsports too. To be honest I forgot the XT live had a MIDI port.
