I preferr to be called "geek" :)

geeks are clumbsy... nerds are "unattractive" ... according to dictionary.com :)

...but yeah... oh how I don't miss being stuffed in trashcans after school anymore...

... I should try an order a copy of my 7th Grade SAT score though... I never bothered to take it in highschool...

I told Noize2u long ago that I had become the exact person I always hated...a very unusual personal dichotomy I got into when entering the computer age as a career and hobby...

thanks to dungbeatle this topic is officially getting recommended!

hmmm, when I think of stereotypical metal heads, I tend to think dungeons and dragons. For instance, I give you metallica. I saw a picture of some metal group in the local independent newspaper here, and couldn't stop laughing. If only I could find the picture...

I dont think it was untill I met dB that I came out of the closet as a geek. I was always the tech head, but never really thought of myself in that vein. And as dB stated, I as well hated those types of characters. Never admited I was one untill I was way to old to care anymore what someone might think. Now my sons and all their friends know the name means nothing other then you are capable of doing things most only think about, or pay someone a lot of money to do.

And Carrie Fisher, Um ya. I wish I was Jabba the Hut back then. :-)

Nice photo by the way DungBeatle, autographed as well.

for some reson I always preferred the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" RPG... or even the Starwars D6 RPG.... over AD&D

I was always the AD&D player, after that we breifly played Gamma World and Top Secret as well, but they were never developed to the degree D&D was...

I was always recoding or playing or tweaking gear. I never got to play those games. But free time was filled with video games. Pong, Intelavision which did have a dungeons and dragons game with a cheesy dragon roaring when you woke him up.

Yeah you thought YOU were a nerd :D

I played the D&D for a bit, but was more into the Robotech RPG. Geez, combining anime and and RPG...it formed a super-nerdy concoction that I almost never recovered from. Thank goodness I found the guitar! Because now that I'm a computer programmer, I'd probably be at some fat nerd's house rolling 20-sided dice right now.

nerds are dorks,

geeks get things done.

I can live with that =).

What sux is if your a geek and a nerd.

(which i'm not, i hope)

I didn't know you wrote code, tad. I thought you were an admin

i just always took it as an insult nomatter which one i was called. i never bothered for the definition. i find out that im retarded though... seriously. i was practicing for a show on the 7th and after we finished, next thing i know, we're all trying to do handstands. then we got all technical and tried to do it on one hand and hop (that DOES NOT work at all). then we tried to get straight up and slowly roll down like a long summer-sault. then i reallize how childish i was and how i loved it too much! then we tried doing it on the hood of tiffany's car and dented it. then.... never mind i could go on forever. moral of the story... we did that from 7 to about 10:30... now im really tired

Nothing wrong with that. For a long time the only people I was around were all music related people.
