I've got Cubase SX and a Midi keyboard and a boatload of free VSTis... what else do I need to make some intricate drum loops?

yeah, so what I just sequence em in cubase? God that'll take forever and a day. I was hoping there was a better way to do this time wise.

I load a drum kit into my Kurzweil K2500 and play it on the keyboard while I record in Cakewalk. I'll do this with several different tracks (first kick and snare, then hi-hat, cymbals, etc), then I edit the midi file to make it just right. Play it back and record to hard disk. Edit so the loop is perfect using Samplitude or Soundforge... Load the finished wav file into Acid and away we go...

What?

yeah I used fruityloops for a while, it's good and all but I just got bored with it, the drum sounds sounding very sequenced. it's great for 4 to the floor da nce beats though

load the drum samples into a sampler, set a loop up , and play to a click on your controler, record....quantize to taste and fine tune here and there....copy paste copy paste...

it's not as long as it seems, start off by just dooin' say the kick first, then add the snare, hats ect.

Sorry guys, but Fruity Loops has nothing on Sonar or Project 5. Ableton Live as well is great.

But Loki, there is really no shortway around to creating loops of the nature you are looking for. It is a long winded task no matter what software you might use.

Yeah as Noize was sayin', Sonar allows for what they call Groove Clips... where you can take any recording, make it into a groove clip, and then just 'smear' as many clips as you need onto the track . Really neat function !

On a side-note Loki, I haven't been feeling well at all lately... and I'm just now gettin' back on my feet again, being able to friggin' work . Just wanted to let you know I'm still all about the project, and in fact may be posting something for you this week to work with .

Cheers bud !

Man, I've got'ta get some listening done here, too... lots'a new music 'round here ! : )

Hue - It's all good bud, I've been up to my ears in unmusic related stuff as of late, and I just got a pretty bad concussion so I can't stand to listen to anything right now
