Like the photographer that doesn't flinch at the most horrific visual moment .
Like the motorist that cannot help but slow enough to get a very good look at the accident .
Like the record keepers of the evil regimes throughout mankinds history .
We must record... and remember... and grow .
I've posted an old song that I found on a disk hiding in the studio .
It's 'like' a song... more of a musical documentation of an extremely intoxicated, and pissed off guy in pain . There is offensive language, and frequent drug references, "so go y'e no further, lest y'e be men of valor"...
I'm going to 'choose' not to be embarrased by this, based on the grounds that we all know that drugs are bad.... mmm-kay ? SO, if you 'think' that you'll be offended, you probably will .
Besides, it's just a bit comical, thought you guys might get a laugh .
The song's in my profile... you'll see it .

Mar 03, 2006 09:20 am That was GREAT! I really love it. Sounds like something I would do. In fact, I have an old song with bong noises in it too. You have a very nice speaking voice. Nice recording too! Really enjoyed this... should be a video along the lines of "Reefer Madness"... anyone see "Reefer Madness the Musical"? If not, you should...

I can't believe they were serious when they made that... but they were... dead serious .
Mar 03, 2006 11:05 am The crazy piano player in the movie was the bomb...

Mar 03, 2006 02:15 pm hehe yeah, theWent's been hard at work on that number . (That's what we were trackin' drums for a couple of weeks ago.) The new scenes are looking even 'worse' ! lol
He's also started another one, stating that he just couldn't wait... it's called 'Swamp Women From Prison'... the previews made me laugh, 'til I cried, and the plot is even more ridiculous than that of 'Santa's Going To Hurt You' . heh
"Red is the color of Christmass... and blood !"
All in time... : )

Mar 03, 2006 10:23 pm wow, that was a well done piece, all around. clearly, a vision piece, but you also made it musically, and technically evocative as well.
very well done. well worth the 50.6k dialup DL =).
i'm gonna point one of my old friends (heh) to this for him to hear. I know he will get a kick out of it. He's a Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas kinda guy.
'wait till he sees the BATS'

Mar 04, 2006 03:01 pm Hue, that was riviting to say the least. I gotta agree on the production of the tune being stellar. I could honestly see this done to video. I honestly dont find it offensive at all. You are simply getting a message accross via music. I like the way the guitar sounds with the bow on it. As well I liked the cheesemaster bits as well. The arrangement is great as well. With all the little nuances of sound you added just make it even more dramatic. I agree with DungBeatle on your voice fitting very well in the tune. The tune in and tune out parts were excellant as well.
WYD and Hue, what videos are you guys talking about? I dont see any Santa videos anywhere here??????? Fill me in will ya.

Noize- It all started wehn theWent started messing with public domain films . Kind of a Mystery Science Theatre gone crazy . He'll take the film, removes the audio, rewrites the plot, then rerecords the dialogue to fit the new and insane plot . Of course only the most terrible films will do !
Santa Conquers The Martians is the film he's working on now . Rescripted so that the plot is about Santa flying his sled through a nuclear-test, and transformiong into evil-Santa .
Swamp Women From Prison is on for down the raod, but the trailer he's made for it has got my interest peaked... the plot is quite insane .

Mar 05, 2006 01:05 pm LOL, nice bubbler sound effect there.
I think that your bic is going out too if it took a few strikes to light :D You must've read the article on proper lighter micing techniques. Did you X-Y that puppy or what? hahahaha
Interesting piece Hue. Sounds like a piece that you needed to write and record. Boy can I sympathise with you there. I'd have to say that the most cathartic thing in my life is songwriting. I came out of a rough year and finally got enough clarity to see that I needed to start writing. There's something about it that makes me be honest with myself...seeing or hearing my own thoughts that I've been afraid to verbalize really has helped to deal with some stuff that was weighing me down.
Bravo to ya for sharing!

Mar 05, 2006 01:58 pm Ah, that explains WYD being the only one talking about it. Will they ever be putting them up for DL or anything like that?

Mar 05, 2006 03:19 pm Tadpui- An LDC sterio tracked for all the human parts . To elaborate further.. the violin-bow/slide/guitar part was recorded direct through the CDX-1, and the piano piece was 'dictated' by a Boss DR770 drum machine . Everything was recorded and mixed with the CDX-1, with only a small amount of tweaking on the computer . heh... I use a Zippo now . : ) And yeah, I totally agree that music/recording is one of the healthiest things one can do... both for oneself, and those who listen . There's a certain responsability involved with it on that level... growth revealed by 'decision', and the acknowledgement of the process . Thanks... good stuff .
Noize- Yes, Brent is working up the whole enchilada for the Santa movie... DLs, a soundtrack, interview footage with the people involved... it's turning into quite a bit of work for him, but he's lovin' it . He wants to have it done by X-mas, but I'm thinking he shouldn't rush one aspect, and get things right by the next . I was looking to see if I could mail you the Swamp Women trailer, but it's 18MB... a bit too large . :

Mar 05, 2006 10:22 pm That will be interesting to see then.
18mb, bummer for email. I might talk to someone at work who is running an ftp site out of his house and talk him into letting you upload it there for me to grab. I 'll let ya know. Otherwise I am hooking up a network server here that will do ftp as well and maybe I'll just set up a spot for it here when I get the thing in.
