About mattoid82

I am a 23-year-old graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where I majored in violin performance. A friend and I relocated to Columbus, OH, to join our drummer and pursue a career playing in our band, The Audiologues (www.theaudiologues.com). We are currently torn between whether we should take the time to improve our recording abilities or if we should spend some money and do it professionally. I think a healthy balance of the two is a worthy goal for us at this time. Any advice or feedback is always welcome.

My Studio

What we have and use:

24-bit m-audio delta 1010 LT soundcard, Cakewalk Sonar 5 Producer Edition, Shure beta 58a dynamic mics for recording instruments and/or vocals, mxl 990 condenser microphone for recording vocals, Rode NT4 stereo condenser microphone for recording overhead drums and sometimes guitars, Audix d-series drum mics, roland rs-70 synthesizer, synthesized bass (using the roland), 16-channel Allen & Heath mixer, etc.

What we don't have or use:

external hardware compressor (we use Sonar for that), a good vocal mic, good studio monitors (currently using computer speakers + closed studio headphones), or a stand-alone wave editor for cleaning up tracks
