Hi, i'm looking to buy another mic for stereo - micing acoustic guitar. My only condenser is the ADK A-51 (specs below).

I've no idea what to look for to ensure that the stereo sound is not mismatched, so any input would be kindly recieved. I have approx £100 to spend new or second hand.

Cheers, Mark

Hello man,

How about a studio projects B3 large diaphragm or the samson C02 stereo pair.

The C02's ship for £73 from Turnkey. I'm recording acoustic with them at the moment and love them.

I'm using the C02 in an X-Y config pointing at 12 fret and then using my B3 as a room mic, or even over my shoulder...just having a few phase issues though...

For £100 you'd get two decent condensers and stands/leads and have change. There are others here who rate them.

Check it out...

I as well own a pair of the Samson C02's and was pleasantly surprised when I got them. They have a few good things about them that work great with acuostic guitar. One thing I found great is the fact that for an SDC they have pretty decent bottom end response. And when miccing the guitar body near the sound holw you can role a bit of the bottom off by moving the mic a bit further away. It is very controlable this way. The proximity effect is easily controlled by just moving the mic slightly closer or further away. They are very detailed as well for the price. And at that price for the pair I found them well worth the money.
