Does anyone give a crap about these? Who actually watched these awards shows that isn't doing so for a good laugh or cuz it's their job to watch them?
These massive parties that Hollywood throws for themselves so they can kiss each others asses and pat each other on the back just seem stupid. I didn't watch any of last nights, and, well, never really do, but they talked about it on the radio this morning because it's their job to...
I dunno, I am just wondering if anyone watched this stuff?

Jan 17, 2006 08:45 am Just one of the many stupid self-gratifying shows where all of Hollywoods elite come out to pat each other on the back and give each other awards for their self-indulgent efforts to give each a chance at the podium to spew their political rants and "speak for the American people" whom they have no clue about.
The funny thing is, at one time actors and actresses were the lowest form of paid workers. mocked and ridiculed by common people as the unskilled people that they were incapable or unwilling to find "real work" and exist simply to entertain the real heart and soul of society, the working class.
Now, that has spun into people actually idolizing these people to the point where from their ivory towers they look down at the very people that are making them their millions...
I can hardly even enjoy watching movies any more...

I still look at them that same way. Just because they make the big bucks doesn't make them super heroes.
And ya, I think I'm like most and don't give a crap about the Golden Globes (or any other self-serving awards show like it).

Very good advice.
Most public eye people, entertainers, sports atheletes, politicos, etc. don't seem to live the type of life I live, and I don't want to be them, so I don't follow up on their lives.
I never would have known any awards show was on, I miss most of them, though I did watch the CMT awards for about 1/2 hour when it was on.
Jan 17, 2006 11:22 pm Nope, never have and never will. I might watch a music awards show if there are going to be any worthwhile acts playing. Othwise, I dont really even watch TV at all. Turn it on at night to fall asleep to, or watch a race on SPEED Channel. Might peek at the news when I get home and the wife is watching it.
Jan 18, 2006 01:27 am I don't particularly care too much about any of these awards shows, but I'll watch them on occasion (preferably music). However, I have to admit that I look as actors/musicians, basically any entertainer as a regular person just like everybody else. They don't get extra respect, or less. They have about as much right to blabber their political ideas as the hacks on the radio. Just like everyone else, I tune in or tune out depending on if they're interesting. I definitely don't worship them. But I will say this. One year several years ago, I was watching the academy awards and I thought to myself, wow, if these jokers can be successful by doing entertainment stuff, then why the hell can't I. And it was from that point on that I decided to take music seriously!
