Hey All -

My friend and I are doing some recording in my bare bones home studio. We just wrapped on a track yesterday. I'd love to hear comments on the song itself, as well as the mix. Thanks HRC! Link to the song is below.

Hmm. It works for me. Thats strange. Maybe try putting an "" before the text that appears in my first post. It should stream through Windows Media Player.

Hey Drako, I will give it a listen tommorrow and let ya know what I think. Gave it a quiet listen tonight but cant really tell as it was way to quiet to hear all the detail's. Sounds pretty funky though and nice guitra lik's goin on as well.

Is that a synth bassline or a real bass? It sounds real but in spot's it sounds like you have a synth bass in there as well. Is the bass playing chord lines as well? Either way sound's funky as hell. I lke the breakdown at about 2:40 as well, real smooth. Nice vocals harmony goin on in there as well. I like the lead guitar sitting just back of the mix, fit's great and doesnt interfear with anything. Ya got the hat sounding really great. The drum's being played with a brush by chance. I would go for a little more smack on the snare if you can get it up there just a tiny bit during certain parts of the mix. And the kick is very burried in the mix as well. Dont know if that was what you were going for or not, but it could stand to come up just a bit.

As for the tune itself, I like it alot. Very well done, and the lyric's kinda sneak up on ya here and there with some off the wall phrase's.

Hey Noize -

Thanks for the feedback. The bassline is a real bass but there is also a keyboard riff in the verses at times. Good ear! Unfortunately, we are still limited to a drum machine so the percussion you are hearing is not a real kit. I record the drum machine with a mono out, which really limits the editing I can do. It will have to do until I can convince my wife I need a Roland V-Drum kit. =)

I'm glad you like the song. Lyrics are intended to be a little crazy at times. We are striving for a sound thats different, but also something people can relate to and enjoy. Again, thanks for listening and let me know if you post any tunes of your own.

Well its definately something I would listen to more of that is for sure. As for the drum's there is enough there to get th point across so its not a major concern. But ya, a little more kick enetually will be killer.

And the V-drum thing. I am lucky that way. The studio supports itself enough to be able to afford some of that extra stuff like the trigger kit for drums and the like. It really does make a big differance in the end product.

Good luck and cant wait to hear more from ya.
