Hey Guys

Did any of you watch the Scotland V USA game at Hampden park on Saturday>???

Meant to start a thread but had too many beers and fell asleep??? Do you guys watch the "fitba" aka "football" (or maybe soccer to you guys I Guess) - I hear its getting bigger over the pond now???

Anyways, I just wanted to say - YEZ WERE LUCKY and it was not a penalty! :-) ! hahahaha....nah, it was a fairly even draw...for info, this is the most popular sport here in bonnie Scotland by far....beats all else :-)!

Cheers and all the best

Coco.

I love soccer, my all time favorite sport (besides fighting) it hasn't been real big here, we have a team in Minnesota, but not playing the big arenas.

no, I didn't see this. They barely televise any soccer here except for MLS soccer (our pro league) and the spanish stations which mostly show teams from leagues in Mexico. I like to watch soccer, but never really do. Though I mostly get into the international tournaments, but they never show those on TV here (or rarely and only really late at night).

I only got to see that last 2 minutes of it. I get 3 differant channels with international soccer on em. It's the only other channels I watch besides The Speed Channel.

And ya, they were sayin it was a grand game. I am bummed I missed it. Next time ya gotta post before it is on so those of us that can will tune in. Though I believe one of the channels does re-air some games, maybe I'll get lucky and that one will get re-aired.

Aye - I will be sure to drop ye a note though, to be honest, I dont see our countries havin another match for a while...we've had 6 matches over the last 100 years!!!! Ach well...never mind.

To be honest, the game wasnt that good anyway - ye didny miss too much though, I did keep me occupied and beerin it up for an hour and half :-) !!

Ah, ye canny whack the fitba for sure.

Actually, I recorded it on DVD as it goes (I use a DVD recorder to record TV instead of VCR) but alas, I just wiped it!! Could've sent ye the footage to watch....

Anyways, hope ye do well in the World Cup...

Cheers

Coco.

Since the USA women have been so strong over the years, the men have had to play catch-up. They really have worked hard too.

I'm still reeling from England's recent outings.

i think i used to like playing fitba (soccer), but ive never seen a game on tv or a real game. we had a soccer (fitba) unit in gym class all through high school and i loved it. but aye, mang, in the USA, we play it in school, but you dont really hear anyone talk about it outside of that. weird, considering it's the world's number one sport!

I used to love it me-self, then I got old and get winded too easy... Quit while I was ahead at the age of 22... 'course, that's been a while. And it was too a penalty!!! The referee saw what he saw when Mrs. O'Leary lowered her bloomers and raised the shades!!!

Well, all around here are the Soccer Moms, and they drive their kids in minivans to and from fitba games all summer long. And boy are they a pissy bunch. If their kid gets a penalty ya would think it the end of the world. And jeez, dont take to long in the line at DairyQueen, they gotta get them soccer kids a DQ treet, like right now.

It is the world's second best sport (after international cricket, of course), and just above American Football.

The world cup is a fantastic event (where the "World Champions" have actually played against other nations).

Unfortunately for me, I was a lifelong Wimbledon FC supporter. They got franchised off to become the Milton Keynes Dons. Lame.
So I am without a team. Yes, AFC Wimbledon etc..blah, blah..
But they're just not the Crazy Gang.
Maybe I'll start following Hibernian.

So I follow England.....through thin, and thinner...
Tsk....

I played from an early age (oh, the old five-three-two formation...), through to my thirties (stopping for a while to play Rugby...but that's another story). My dad played in local teams until he was 42. He wasne bad, either. Good left back.
Great game.

Cricket - TC...I ask ye man...I ask ye :-P ! hehehe.

Now Mr TC, ye bought a kilt, yer granny? was Scottish and ye seem like an (almost getting there) honourary Scotsman....therefore, forget the Wembley Wombles and follow the mighty Scots!!!

At least we didny get beaten of Norther Ireland and Denmark recently!!!!!!!! hehehehehe...

Just jibbing ye mate..just jibbing ye !! Fair dues, if you canny follow your country...there is something far wrong so fair play to ye my man.

Oh aye, and for a final wee bit of good info..last time the "mighty" Scots played the wembley wombles, at Wembley, we won :-P !! hehehehe

All the best mate...enjoy the world cup...roll on the obligatory penalty shot out :-) !!

Cheers

Coco

P.S. Aye, you could do worse than following the Hibs mind...I'd recommend for all :-) !

I gotcha, Coco.

Internation Cricket. Yes! I can watch every ball of a five day test! I love it. Strange, but true.

Ok, footie.

Yes, Ingerland did indeed suffer very badly to Denmark, and Northern Ireland. Very v. poor show.

It's my club team that I'm lost on. Not the national side. Sorry, despite the Scottish blood coursing through my veins, I must stick with England. Through thick and thin. An, let me tell you, it's been thin....

Hibs might just get be my new club team. After the drubbing they gave Hearts the other week, you've got to love 'em.

Ah, the kilt. Yes, it's fantastic. What have I been missing all these years?!

By the way, I took a listen through the Bad Martini catalogue last night. Nice stuff, sir.
Forgive me if this doesn't sit well with you, but I'm reminded somewhat of Bernard Butler. Very cool stuff indeed. I can hear so Lennon in there, of course! :)

well, thats one thing you never see in america for some reason. fans dont frequently riot because of calls the refs or umps make, do they? i cant remember an instance of that, actually.

NO, but if your at a baseball game sitting just outside the foul net behind home plate ya can pitch crap at the umpire for makin bad calls. But dont get caught as these days it will get ya booted from the stadium.

Man I miss the old days, no foul net and you were just feet from the upmire, and no one cared if ya tossed rocks at em when they botched a call.

But cricket just doenst seem the type of sport you would riot at.
