Help from POD users?!?

Ok, the other day I got the Line 6 FlextoneII plus, as some of you may have read. Now, the problem that I have is that I recorded a really awesome track with my Peavey. The clean sound I got was excatly what i wanted, and I think it was close to a preset. The problem I have is that I have spent literally no less than about 7 hours trying to recreate that sound with my flextone. In desperation, since I am about to go insane, I ask for help from some of you. Unfortunately I don't have a website to post to, but I was hoping maybe I could email some of you extreme POD'ers the guitar track I had and see if you can PLEASE help me. I figure that maybe someone with more experience and a little more background will go, oh yeah its the Marshall whatever in about ten minutes you could get it excatly and possibly be nice enough to let me know what the settings are. Unfortunately I have scouring my cd collection trying to find a group that has the sound I got so I could go to line 6 website and see if someone already came up with it. I realize that I am using a different guitar, an Epiphone Sheraton to be exact, but I figure someone might kno excatly what amp model it is that would closely recreate that sound. I will owe someone big if they can do this, not sure what I can do, but short of sexual favors, ubless you are an extremely hot chick, I will try to help someone else at the very least.

Desperate enough? :) Thanks for anyone who will help me.

I forgot to say, but I have already taken the Peavey back, hence the panic. I knew someone would say, "well just use the Peavey amp then." Thanks guys.

I dunno about you guys, but I think the POD's preset sound of the "POD Clean" (I think it's called) is one of the greatest clean sounds I have heard for electric guitar. I use it a lot, er, well as often as I use clean sounds at all ;-)

Maybe, just maybe you will find a better clean sound with your new amp and just re-record thast one track with your new sound...

A pain yes, but just a thought...

Yeah dB, I had thought, oh well, its just a clean guitar sound, but every time I tried recording the guitar track for that song, it just wasn't right. I never usually get this anal about something, but its killing me not being able to recreate this sound. I think the problem is that I came up with the idea for that song starting with THAT guitar track, so every time I play it, I think it should sound like that. That's why I posted this here, hoping that someone with a better ear and more experience using a POD could nail it, or at least close to it. Speaking of that, did you get my email Noise? I got a rejection return, said the size was bigger than your max, I think i was 2.5MB, but I mixed down to a mono and now it about 1.3MB. Let me know if you didn't get it. Really appreciate the help.

I wanted to help a little for you tbone. When I recorded that I was mic'ing the amp with an SM57, but as I told Noise, the sound was pretty close to what I was getting out of the amp itself, I remeber it being pretty accurate. Also, I was using the front humbucker on an Epiphone Sheraton which is a semi-hollow body guitar. Not sure if that helps, but hopefully. Also, I sent that wav to you tbone, hopefully you got it ok. And noise, I agree, for a non-web based email that is pretty small, I kept it pretty short to so it wouldn't take forever to download. If either oif you figure out that tone with the POD, you'll be my heros. I have been almost fanatical about trying to duplicate that sound. I even went back to the guitar store I originally bouth that at and they had already sent the amp back to Peavey to fix the humming that it had. So I couldn't even see what settings I had. I should have written it down, but I didn't think it would be this difficult to duplicate and I didn't realize how much I liked it. Thanks again.

One other thing, if you ca't figure out hwo to get that sound, what artist do you think most closely uses that sound? I might be able to get on the Line 6 website and see if anyone else has emulated that sound. Thanks for the ears!

I can't believe this. You guys are going to ahte me, well maybe hate is a strong word, I doubt you've been racking your brains that hard. The sound I wanted, its not in the POD. Its just the guitar. I couldn't belive it. I plugged my guitar directly into my sound card to fool around with something and there it was. I am so amazed. That great tone you were saying I had Noise, its just the guitar by itself. I slapped a little reverd and a litle bit of chorus on it, its almost dead on adn I haven't played with the eq yet. You can't imagine HOW happy I am. I ahve been racking my brain for two days trying to get that sound. Turns out my guitar just sounds great! At least I tihnk so. Thanks for your help, I appreciate any effort you may ahve put into it. If you did find a setting though let me know becuase as it is I am ahving to do the effects inside SONAR and I wouldn't mind doing it with the POD. Tried the "preamp" mode and it still kinda glossed it over. Plus, if I ever play this live, whcih I hope to soon, then I'd liek to be able to get that sound. I am SSSOOO happy its pathetic! Thanks guys.

hey marc try this out: on your line 6, press the tap tempo/function button down, and switch the head selection dial to jazz clean. its just a straight pre amp, doesn't colour the tone or anything but lets you access other amp functions like reverb and stuff, i haven't heard the clip but maybe that could help out instead of just plugging your guitar into your card. use the studio out(s) on the back of the cab. it'll sound super cool, i guarentee it.

Thanks for the help tbone. I did try that actually, right after I figured out that it was a straight sound I was going for. For some reason though it does seem to color it though. Not sure why. I ran it straight into my Q10, they have a switch so I can make it Hi Z for straight guitar which works great for my acoustic, and that seemed to be the trick. I eq'ed it in SONAR and put a little horus, and it sounds about as close as I think I can wish for. I really appreciate the help. I guess I can save that preamp as a setting on my florr board so I can access that sound during a gig, so I should be cool. Who would've thunk it that the natural tone sounded like that though. Its amazing, I think I am quickly falling in love with this guitar.
Marc (da Sharc)

Noise if you see this, thanks for your help as well.

Like I alway's say, don't be afraid to just try it. Thing's dont alway's have to be by the book. The clean channel on the POD will work good also. You just need to turn the gain all the way down. and put the Bass, Mid, and Treble controls to the center, and it should give you a very clean sound without any colour.

its always awesome to have a guitar that actually sounds good, be greatful. my guitar sounds good BECAUSE of my flextone - so i cant imagine what yours sounds like through a flextone! i think you said it was a semi-hollow body, those always have great tone. i played a semi-hollow tele with humbuckers for this one track we're recording, and i would have never thought it'd sound so good.
