Ideas on pre-tape EQ guys?

So right now on my drums, I'm running my mics to my behringer sl2442fx pro and then using a 1/4" to RCA snake to my delta1010lt. but, i run the snake halfway in the channel strip i/o's (fake direct outs) so it by-passes my EQ. what i want to do is EQ everything BEFORE going to tape, but using the i/o's as direct outs doesn't let me do this. can i run things differently or buy anything to be able to do this?

Ehm, looking at the specs of the mixer, ut has 4 sub group outs, and L/R outs, and 4 post fader aux's!

So for example, assign kick in to group 1-2, pan it left, assign kick out to group 1-2, pan right, snare top to 3-4, pan left, snare bottom to 3-4, pan right, left tom to Left/Right out, pan left, right tom to left/right out, pan right, low tom through aux 1 post fader, OH L through aux 2 post fader, OH R through aux 3, Room mic through aux 4.

And connect em' : )

"4 subgroups, 4 aux sends, and 4 stereo aux returns"...

... off of the manufacturers detail .

I think you can designate if the #3 aux is used for the internal fx or not, if I remember correctly .

I have the same board, and you got me wondering why you wouldn't want to use the direct outs provided on the back of the unit, and then eq afterwards ? That way would provide a 'lil more flexability, as well as allowing you to change your mind on the eq'ing, should you need to . I understand that is not the way you 'want' to do things, but perhaps a shift in approach would get you where you want to be ? If you know exactly what your eq settings will be, you could simply 'apply' them, and that way you wouldn't be sucking-uo any cpu power to do the processing .

Behringer Eurodesk SL2442FX-Pro is the model. It doesn't have direct outs, it has 4 sub groups, L/R mains and 2 aux sends. It does have an effects loop, but that doesn't really have anything to do with what i need to do.

it's all good. i think i can route similarly to what the colonel was saying, but i might have to use my headphone amp to eq some extra tracks before i get outboard eq's

sorry for bringing this up, cause im gonna be doing the same thing.. except from my UB-2222FXPRO..

im gonna use the I/O .. so its pre fader and pre-eq.. so it doesnt matter how i adjust the volume of each mic ??

how about eq ?? how will i EQ things out in the recording program ?? (adobe audition)

Record everything with a flat EQ, then just do all your EQing in the mixdown like you would in any mixdown...how you gain stage a mic always matters...

so, when i do that..

connect all 8 inserts to the Delta1010LT ... I wouldnt be too cautious about my levels clipping ??

then i just raise the volume on my software ?? wont the noise/signal ratio be high ? @_@
