Jeezuz, the Packers decided it was time to win a game it looks like...what an *** kickin'...

Looks like I also will get my first season win in fantasy, thank to "got no teefus" not reseting their lineup and including a couple people on bye weeks...thanks teefus.

Yeah...life is good again in TitleTown!! It was fun to watch the boys actually play the game the way they're supposed to play it! Packers are dinged up, and will need the bye-week to get better. Then it's the BIG showdown on Monday night...I'm already nervous.

Several students of mine are major Viking fans, and so we made a bet based on whoever wins the game: If the Vikings win I have to wear a Vikings jersey all day at school, if the Packers win they have to wear Packers jerseys all day.

Yikes...purple isn't one of my colors

No matter what team is better, has a better record or anything, the Vikes and Packers almost always play a good game, they almost always bring their a-game to play each other. Should be fun.

Yeah this must have been the week of "oops, I forgot about my fantasy team!". I forgot to pull out the Cadillac before Tampa Bay's game started, so I lost out there since he's out for injury. Luckily I plugged in a backup in time for Priest. Thanks to my opponent for 1) choosing Larry Johnson for his running back 2) not removing him for the Chief's bye week. I'd probably be losing otherwise ;)

egad. roethlisberger went down with a knee injury. it looked really bad, but he walked off the field. i have hope. those refs are evil--who watched? so many penalties, against both teams. some really bad calls, too.

Sounds like Roethlisberger is gonna be missing a couple weeks eh? Bummer for them...that sucks.

But hey, the Vikings didn't loose! w00t!

That was a cheap shot on Roethlisberger, too.
The officials should have been wearing Bolts shirts.
The "fair catch" incident was absolutely lame. They said that he wasn't given an opportunity to catch the ball. Let's recap: The ball bounced off his face mask (which makes it a live ball), and he was falling backwards - away from the ball - and his outstretched hands were five feet from the bouncing ball. There was no way he could have caught that ball! Result, roughing the receiver. What a joke.
Will there be more official apologies to the Steelers from the NFL? How many is that?

Might start watching golf. At least no-one cheats.

Well, their justification was that since it was a fair catch, that he gets "every opportunity to catch the ball until it hits the ground". So he can bobble it, muff it, whatever, but its still a fair catch until he actually drops it. Goofy rule, definitely.

anyone got a video clip link? I'd love to see it...nothing beats a good cheap shot.

"every opportunity to catch the ball until it hits the ground" - So he'd have had to have finished falling backwards, got up again, run ten feet forwards to where the ball was heading, and catch the ball. There's a trick I'd like to see. Absolutely impossible.

The defender who hit Big Ben had lunged forwards after he fell. He actually got to look where he was heading, which took him turning his body, and using his hand to push forwards. Had he just fallen, he would have been three to five feet short of Big Ben's knee.

im not sure it was a cheap shot. his momentum seemed to be carrying him forward and he looked a bit out of control to me. if anything, im sure the guy was only thinking 'i have to take that guy out! its my job!' not 'nows my chance to kill his season!'

the refs were chargers fans. hines ward was robbed. that sort of thing, over and over again, can take the wind out of the sails, kill a team's sense of momentum. make them frustrated. sap them.

even madden said the fair catch rule was stupid and needs to be altered (i agree, definitely) but, as cowher said, in this case it was the right call, simply because that rule exists, and so i have to agree with that call, just as cowher did.

i think ben will be back after missing one week. one ESPN commentator says he's seen this before and it might not be serious enough to keep him out for even a week. MRI results today. so far ive heard significant hyperextension leading to a bone bruise, but all ligaments seem intact.

here ya go:

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI on his knee on Tuesday morning after the team returned from San Diego and the results were the same as what the team heard following the game.

Roethlisberger has a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise and has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Heinz Field.

“We’ll see how the week progresses,” said head coach Bill Cowher. “I think we all have a deep sigh of relief in regards to the prognosis.”

ARGH, hyperextensions suck, I have done that a few times in the gym while sparring and working the bag...man, that hurts...and doesn't heal real quick either if you use it at all.

i cant imagine what it feels like. you just see something like that and you say 'knees are not supposed to bend in that direction!' i got five text messages right after it happened, basically all saying 'good god, no.'

What's funny is, after a few times it quits hurting as bad, you get more flexability, at least I have noticed that in myself. I still have the same things happen to me, but they don't cripple me any more...so, maybe it's good for him :-)

Ya, but the pain is that eventually all that crap being done to the knee will evntually take its toll. I can attest to that one personally. Having no cartalidge left in either knee I am now incapable of running without pain. Even climbing stairs takes a toll.

I personally hate seeing those guys take a beating like that. The knee's I mean. Most retired athletes who have been beaten on like that spend their later years limping and gimping around.

That said, what they get paid I guess they can afford to have synthetic cartalidge put in so maybe its not all bad.

ben's quotes on the matter:

I feel blessed, I feel very blessed. I don't know if it's never as bad as it seems or if it's just the healing power of prayer. But I do feel blessed to be able to walk around and be as healthy as I do get to be.

You never want to sit, regardless what it is.

I feel very grateful and lucky there wasn't any ligament damage or very severe.

a good cowher quote:

It’s a close football team that believes in each other and we have to recognize that every week we have to go out there and prove yourself.

way to mix your pronouns, bill!

(every week i pull the most grammatically incorrect, strange, baffling steelers quotes. these ones dont even approach what i usually see.)

here's another one i like. because its so vague.

COWHER (Re: Troy Polamalu:) He’s a guy that you can do a lot of things with. We try to move him around and do certain things with him. He’s the type of guy that you can do that with.
