I am looking to expand my I/O for my DAW but don't want to give up the ability to maintain a 96 kHz sample frequency so I was thinking about finding a Dual channel mic pre with SPDIF digital outputs. Can anybody recommend any models for me? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Most implementations of S/PDIF are 48kHz, I do believe. You might find something that uses ADAT and doubles-up the 8 channels into 4 for use at 96kHz... Anyone else?

It should be noted that some "S/PDIF" are actually capable of sending 8 channels of audio (used for 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 surround data typically), as I recall that is "TDIF"...the max channels and the actual name I may have wrong, but the RCA-appearing digital interface is capable of more than 2 channels if the manufacturers wants to implement it. One wouldhave to check the exact specs of their device though.
