how common it is to limit vocals?

Apr 08, 2005 04:19 pm i don't do it, if yo zoom in on a drum track, you'll see sharp transients, but on a vocal it's all roundness, well unless you got a rapper that screams! lol but yeah, if you want to prevent clipping while tracking, ok, but i wouldn't limit on mixdown, just compress.

Apr 09, 2005 03:07 pm It is really just to accomadate a vocalist who might not have the best control ove there volume. Compresion/limiting is a more common use for the limiter when recording vocals.
But if the vocalist has good control then the limiter really isnt needed.
