hi,
Ive just gotten my first DVD Writer. And I`m in the process of burning a DVD disc in Nero 6. It`s taking absolutely ages though!...how long does it usually take you guys on average to burn a 4.7GB Disc? I`m putting a huge avi file on there (a whole 1 hour 30minute film) and so far its take 28minutes and it says there is 3 hours remaining!...is this normal?! It`s a good DVD Writer...nothing cheap!...I`m just surprised its taking this long!
So, if anyone could shed any light on this matter it`d be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot.
Take Care.
Alex

Mar 28, 2005 07:10 am Yes, it's normal. DVD holds6x the amount of info that a CD does and burns at about 1/4 of the speed DVD does...it's not matured yet to the level that CD burning has.

Mar 28, 2005 07:33 am I assume your authoring the DVD? simple Data transfer takes bugger all.
If you just want to store the AVI then it would take a few minutes.
otherwise those ones are 'over nighters' :)

Mar 28, 2005 12:30 pm About DVD authoring.... I found a program that can author all the files to write to disc in like 10 minutes on my computer. Its called Adobe DVDEncore. That in combination with Nero 6 can create a DVD complete with menus in about an hour.

Mar 30, 2005 12:50 pm You have to import the AVI as an asset and then create a timeline witht he file in it. It'll show up on the timeline as frames. If that is still too confusing hang in there and I will check it out on my computer when I get time.
