Well I dont know what the best headphones are and we all know that they can very from person to person. Now that I got that out of the way.... I use a cheap $30.00 set that I got at Best Buy. They are a Maxell HP-2000. I use them for everything from recording at home to location shoots for the little indie movie I'm working on. The only thing I dont like about them is they have a silly little volume control that I am going to cut out soon. Other than that they are great. They have a nice balanced sound to them. By that I mean they arent biased just to listen to low end bass like many of the disount store models are. Thats just my opinion. Take care!

labtec lt-830. i found them for around 15$. they are big ear-covering kind, that kill most outside noise (and should keep sound inside the cans). and they're pretty decent sonic-wise.

I had two different kinds of cheap sony digital reference (yeah, right) sets that were way worse than the labtecs. highly recommended for non mixdown/mastering, tracking only.

Walt the sennheiser HD-280 are great phones but ouch $90.00 each. I need 5 sets, oh boy I was looking at more of the $20 to $30 dollar range. I am going to go check out a set of the Labtec pjk they sound like maybe they are in my price range for my next cd project. Low budget Cd project and do I mean low budget!!!

Yup Walt... I have a pair of those Sennheiser's. They are great headphones and well worth the price. They blow my AKG 240M's away!

Well I purchased 4 pairs of Audio Technica ATH M20 for a wooping $102 including shipping. I am using the cans for monitoring low level recordings in a 4 member band situation. hey for under $26.00 and closed back for noise what can you say?

GS,

Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to blow right over your budget. My bagage I think. I was thinking of singers.

Glad to hear you found a good deal!

Well they did back order one set of the cans but still a very good deal for 1 bill. Yes Walt I am on a very limited budget on this CD. I have just picked up another group so my budget just went up a little. I really need a good head phone amp. I am think about going with the pro 8. I need to see if this new church group is really wanting to do a cd or if they are just pulling my chain. As always I will listen to you and the others in this great site when it comes to Home Recording and Music.....Thanks For All Your Replies!!!
