Unusual Sounds

I was workin' on a track that was 120bpm (my most overused tempo) and i wanted to incoperate a clock into it somehow, so i got my studio clock (blank cd made into a analog clock) and laid my bass flat on the flor and placed the clock right over the pickup....tick tick tick tick, then i decided to run that through my boss ME-8b multieffects pedal, first to a really resonant flanger, then to a single slapback delay at 500ms, the result was this really cool "doo goo...dee gee...da ga...doh goh" sound which fit rather nicely into the track.

anyone else come up with some off the wall stuff like that? i love dooin' things unconventionally.

All the time. I love sound design work. Ever make a synth sond using a sink draining. How about a refrigerator motoer running. If you get a chance put up a sample of the clock sound, it might be interesting to others.

Post it in the sample and field recording forum.

I like to tweak out vocals so they no longer sound like vocals. Though I do everything in software, since I don't really have effects processing hardware. Effects on top of effects on top of effects just for the heck of it.

Heck yeah, coolo ! Fun stuff, for sure . There's a piece I've been working on getting up here for a while, that has a kick-drum sooo over-processed it sounds like whales ! lol
