Big Moma Sound Card - Advice?

Hi Guys

OK - quick question for y'all.

What, in yer opinions, is the best soundcard out there just now for recording a full band i.e. drums, bass, 2 guitars and vocals kinda semi live (no way will I achieve all that in one go) but for as close as poss, what would y'all say?

I hear the Aardvark Q10 is good (dunno tho - never tried it). I am looking for something almost pro sounding (tho I am NOT interested in pro-tools)...maybe needin this card soon. Dunno...so - any opinions are MOST welcome. Also, if poss, a breakout/19" rackmount job is preferred for possible setup (WITH PREAMPS I may add!).

Something with at least 8 ins/outs, 10 is better I think. All advice welcome.

Coco.

I always hear Aardvark and Mark Of The Unicorn mentioned in the "pro" capacity, although I've never used either.

Cheers guys...appreciate that.

Loki, I have a Delta44 - do you think the 10/10 would cut it in a near pro environment?? Also, does the 10/10 have any pre's at all??

I will consider everything and anything tho if it had pre's and xlr & 1/4" jacks itd be a big advantage.

Cheers again guys

The Delta 1010 is great! dB has the new Maya that has even lower latency than the Delta, be worth checking that out.

The Delta 1010 doesn't have preamps but if you want preamps with it too, Aardvark does make one with preamps also.

I don't know how good it is but if you have a board, I would get the Maya or Delta. Hard decisions eh?

I don't have the Maya, I have Juli@

Maya1010 from Audiotrak has the newest VIA Envy24 sound chip, which, in my mind is a turbo charged consumer level chip, I wouldn't get that, but ESI is coming out with a new 1010 card that from what I hear from ESI is gonna kick some serious butt.

Hey Coco...

We have the Aardvark but I have nothing to judge it against and we are still learning how to get the best out of it.

For a newbie...from a nebie...I can tell you that it was straightforward to get up and running...we were recording straight away.

Cheers and sorry can't be more helpful...

Cheers all for all the comments.

I fancy this aardvark if I end up needing it for recording whole bands. Its sounding good with the preamps on board.

As long as the quality is there (Which I have no reason to think otherwise) I'll be pretty much sold!!

Aye - tis soundin good.

Again, ta to y'all.

Coco.
