Can I use a ART Tube MP Studio Preamp with an SM57 and have that setup plugged into my Audiophile 2496 and get good results?

Or...

Should I go with the Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer with an SM-57 and have that setup plugged into my Audiophile 2496?

I'm curious to know what would be the best setup for a one man band situation where recording more tha one track at a time is not an option.

Thanks!! -Al

As just a guide- I get very clean results with my sm-57 (with homemade pop guard) behringer 802, then heading right into the pc. I usally use just the pre-amp channels (there's 2 on the 802) but it works really well for me.

Hmm...yeah, I've used a mixer before just like you did and got great results. I guess I'm asking will the ART pre-amp (or any pre-amp) work just the same or better?

The pre-amp will give you a little better gain control and allow a hotter cleaner signal.

I use an M-Audio "Audio Buddy" straight into the Delta44 card. Into the pre, I put the SM58 for all my vocals on every song...very pleased with the results.

I have also recorded acoustic guitar this way (its a semi-acoustic) with equally pleasing results.
