Whenever I try and 'export audio mixdown' I get the following error message 'An error occurred during the export!'. Any ideas?

Aye - I think its those damned markers...

You need to set the start and end point and the start and end of the song (You'll know its done right cause the whole song will be highlighed with a blue tint).

The markers are also stupid lookin i.e. the wrong way around!!!! Anyways..just drag em over the song and it should work after that.

Aye - that got me for aboot an hour solid when I first got Cubase!!! Stupid markers...

Good luck and welcome to HRC

Do you mean the arrow marker thingy that appears in the timeline? "cos if you do I've got that over the audio I want to export and I still get the error message. As you guessed I'm really new to cubase and this is really starting to get on my tits!

I now see what you mean, the arrow heads have to be backwards. That is really bizarre! Thanks Coco.

Maybe you can answer another couple of questions for me.

1. What do a selected section's blue fade handles vanish after you 'glue' it to another section?

2. Why do you have to activate 'snap to grid' for shuffle mode to work?

I'm normally a ProTools user, but of course Protools Free won't work in OSX so the only audio software I currently have access to is Cubase SE and its winding me up something rotten.

Thanks for the advice on the other handle related issue.

Since we're on the topic of audio exports from Cubase, I'd like to throw a couple of questions out there too.

1) When I export my audio I choose to do so as .wav, on the highest quality settings I can export to, but when I listen to my exported .wav track, it seems that some tracks get turned down in the mix and most of the rest stay the same. I can't figure this out after many hours of trying.

2) I also have a problem when I try to burn the .wav file with nero. I can burn any other .wav on my pc fine except for the ones that I export from Cubase. A message appears that says "the file has a different extension then what is specified" or something similer to that.

These problems have been frustrating the hell out of me lately, can anyone help? Please?!?!

Thanks,

Mike

HI Guys...

OK, am nae expert but here goes:

versionsporadic, when you glue 2 sections they become one so this means you no longer can just select the bit you glued. It is now part of the second piece and therefore has to be selected manually. This is all non-destructive tho so if you glue something, just go into the audio menu (right click) and undo it...joy of Cubase.

Am no sure aboot the snap to grid thing - sorry.

utopian, I've never had that problem you speak off with alterations to my mix. I have heard something similar being mentioned somewhere ( canny mind where - it may have been here so I canny help with this).

I had a problem burning with Nero and I always export at 32bit, 44.1 - if you try to burn from this Nero wont do it. I can only burn 16bit, 44.1 files - CD standard effectively. It may be this that your problem is.

Hope this helps guys..

Coco.

Thanks coco,

I did exactly what you said for burnibg the .wav and it worked perfectly.

I'm going to take a look around the site to see if I can find where someoneelse had the same problems with alterations to the mix.

Thanks again,

Mike

Nae bother bud - if I can help oot I am happy.

Ive had more help from this site than anywhere else (recording wise) so its gid to help others oot where possible.

Going back to this issue, I tend to export to 32BIt, 44.1 then fire the file into Sound Forge. Then I use the option "Master for 16bit" and burn from there. It burns straight to CD and converts to 16bit automatically..less loss in the conversion than other apps and lets you export as good a format as you can.

Good luck

Hello all! I'm new to the board, and I was encountering this same error. One Google later and I stumbled upon this site and the solution. Looks like a great place to learn -- thanks for the help.
