I think we should have a thread where people can post pics of their studios. Maybe keep the talking to a minimum?

Here is mine:

What's your like?

Well, this was the last picture (obviously a collage) of my desk. SInce I have gotten rid of the Ampeg and gotten a Bass Vamp plus I now have two monitors and a Radium 49. My monitors are now also sitting on rockin' STereocilia speaker stands rather than sitting on the desk itself...helped the sound A LOT.

I saw this thread and thought I would post a pic or two. But to be honest - I have no real "studio" to speak off.

I work from a cupboard under the stairs, which is doubled up as a "studio" of sorts. I have gear all over the place and the overall size is roughly 4ft wide by 12ft long MAX!

Outboard gear sits on an old bookcase(filled with videos - what else!) and 3 shelfs on the wall house my mics/cd's and guitar stuff like pics etc.

"Monitors" sit on the desktop itself as does the breakout box from the Delta and thats it!

Digital camera is knackered the now anyways but I guess I could snap it. Just thought I'd add this to the thread!! So...I work from the most unacoustic, small space you can imagine. I Think a prison cell would be bigger!!!

Still, it DOES have a door...which I can shut on the wife :-)

Coco.

Here's mine.

The spaces below the right monitor will be filled soon with a power conditioner, an Alesis Masterlink, and whatever else. I also have another set of monitors/power amp so I'll be able to monitor other busses. Does anybody see any dangers of having the Masterlink at ear level? Are they noisy?

whoa, most of the images are broken, but the one that shows up is off the guitars, and it's over 1/2 MB...might wanna look at optimizing those images or you will suck up bandwidth really fast...

Thanks Coco. I lucked out and found me a wife who puts up with me and my gear. Before I met her, my roommate also collected Jacksons and Charvels, so our front room WAS like that. Mine fit in one room. Imagine what this guy's house looks like. www.collectguitars.com/Gear/DDryer.htm

it means you can't link directly to an image, it has to be a web page. This prevents your bandwidth from being hogged by people linking to your images and such for use on their site...

ya, that worked, tho the pic is really dark.

yeah, as i was eating some chow just now i realized that's what it meant.

yeah, this picture is dark and the room is a mess. the little area looks cool though when the room is clean and candles are lit. i also have a triangular web of red lights--those outdoor webs of lights that you drape over bushes--that hangs in front of the window, so when i record, often the room is completely saturated in red light. the one thing i figured out is that i don't like keeping my stuff on desks. tried it and couldnt get comfortable. now i've just arranged all the stuff in a semicircle at knee-level and use either a small stool or an inflatable exercise ball to sit on. it lets me just turn to the left or right and find the thing i need.

I'm not a doc, but I play one in a pediatric clinic. I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner doc. I can practice independently and do exactly the same thing as a doc, but my malpractice Ins. is tons cheaper.

nurse practitioner doc--sounds like you have your own practice and in it, you emulate a doc while taking care to inform people that you're not a doc, youre a nurse?

I am miles away from a nurse forty mile. I diagnose, prescribe, and have a narcotics license. Name one nurse that can do that. Even a PA must work under a MDs supervision. I however can practice independantly. With Patient care the buck stops with me. There are two educational tracks to get where I'm standing One is through nursing school and one is through medical school. There are mid levels I would trust my life with and there are doctors I wouldn't trust to put dogs down at the pound. Don't elevate the title of MD to the level of competance, because they have little to do with each other. I correct other MD's mistakes all the time. If I screw up, Nps and Mds are equal in the eyes of the court. Yeah, I'm just a nurse.

Oh happy day! Kinda doc-esk. Variation on a theme... As good as it gets... a doc with diminished education and sense of personal responsibility. I must say it fulfills the term practice. What movie was it where the one doc specialized in unnessary surgical procedures? Oh well, glad to be a deversion. Gives me a sense of impotance.

Nurse or doctor, I'm sure the kids don't care what her proper title is. Back in my day (1971-1983) neither doctors nor nurses were that pretty, except Dixie on EMERGENCY!

karyn i wasn't trying to imply that you were less than competent, or less able than a doc. guess that sounded kind of weird with the word 'emulate' like you are just pretending. thats not what i meant at all. i figured you must have some kind of ability to prescribe stuff if you can practice independently. i've just never heard of this before, and nurse is in the position title, so thats why i said it. what powers do you not have that an MD does? doesn't really matter, just curious. i would trust you over this little middle eastern guy i see. IF you practice as good as you sing, that is.

I hope you don't mind me ranting here(we're off the forum subject) but...I went to a doctor several years back and he had to be getting kick backs. At the time, I refered three of my friends to him. Four of my family members were already seeing him regularly. Every one of us seeing him was refered to a C.A.T. scan lab(or whatever you call it)by this doctor. Most of them couldn't figure out why they would need a cat scan. I can understand that given a particular situation that a cat scan might be in order. But everyone of us is a little suspect. To further prove my point, I met other folks that visited this doctor and they too were sent to the same lab for cat scans. A little suspicious to me!

But there are good doctors...I just haven't met any yet!

Legally in my state an NP can do whatever they have been trained to do. So there are specialty areas like dermatology, orthopedics, etc. that NPs can specialize in, and general physicians may refer to these specialties and have their patients seen by an NP. Basically, 80% of what is seen in an area can be managed by an NP. It's that other 20% that you need the expertise of the MD.

"..nurse is in the position title, so thats why i said it."

There is talk in the profession about removing the word "nurse" from the title as it is not reflective of the duties of the NP, and leads to confusion as demonstrated by this thread. Hence that's why I said I'm kinda like a doctor.

Thanks for your supportive comments 40mile,
SKOTILLA and Wrmach. It is very appreciated.

el musico, that's a hell of a studio. It looks really slick. You should have no trouble getting your hourly rate. I'm jealous. Is that a neuman 149 in the pic? Then I'm very jealous.
