Hey everyone. I was hoping to find out the proper way to link/sync or just connect my Roland VS-880 to my PC's DAW. I use both Sonar Producer 3.11 as well as Cubase SX 2.01. I sure could use some assistance as I have scoured the net with no favorable results.
I have a PC running windows XP home with an external mixer connected to an M-Audio FW410 soundcard. 1 gig of ram and plenty of connection possibilities. FW avail on PC but none on my VS880, S/PDIF, USB 2.0 and plenty of cables.
Thanks for any input
Kind Regards,
Phrygian

"Well maybe nobody knew the answer"..."jeez mark, they usually at least say hello"...."hmmm yea I know" ...."It is really odd eh?"....sure is

Personally I know nothing of any of the hard disk recorder or VS series, so I really couldn't help anyway...we are actually growing at a very rapid pace this year, so I wouldn't really say we are "slipping"...

Sorry nobody got back to you, but, well, if nobody has the answer...plus a holiday weekend...it's not really that big of a shock, traffic dropped almost in half over the holiday weekend.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't have made any excuses for anyone, 'caus "slipping" is a bit harsh . I just figured everyone was feeling as sunburned, tired, and well... slippy as myself. heh heh

Still interested in what y'a found-out there phry .

I am guessing you'd sync them via a S/PDIF signal or something similar to that...maybe a word clock if your sound card has one...

hey all....sorry about the disapearing act...
and I am also sorry about the smartass sounding last post I made....I was really just playing even though I sounded like an ***.
Yes I learned that S/Pdif was the way to go IF I were to even bother connecting the VS to my PC...which I am not...
I found out that there are only limited ways in which I can enhance my PC recording experience so there is not any real reason to use it...
Anybody wanna bay a slightly used VS-880???lol
Thanks for not flamming me when I clearly deserved it...

I gotta admit, that "you're slipping" comment kinda hurt. Especially having the year we are having to hear that from somebody that was so into HRC not long before, well, it cut sorta deep, but eh, whatever, it happens.

Glad you figured it out, even if it wasn't the answer you were looking for.

Anywho, welcome back just the same.

We don't flame here...or try like hell not to :-)
