Yet ANOTHER sound card question

So I was planning on buying an M-Audio 2496 possibly as soon as next week, right? Right.

Well, as of last night, I do all the mixing of my songs on my computer. I transfer the tracks from my digital recorder to my computer via a Iomega Jaz drive, which means it's completely digital, no transferring of anything over an analog wire into the input on my soundcard.

So now the question is, does the M-Audio card really have any benefits over a SB Live 128 if the inputs aren't being used?

yes because poor drivers and low quality d-a convertors wil make every sound and operate like ... well, I'm sure you can grasp the metaphore.

A delta 2496 is a solid investment - you can probably use the SPDIF to copy data from your multitrack recorder and thus bypass the need to use slow Jaz drives.

jues.

um, I think if you are not using the soundcard for recording, the results are then only in listening. I don't think you will find too much benefit from moving up to a higher quality card (unless you are using it to record).
