How are they exiting your board? If you have the channels for each mic going out of the same bus on your board (such as a single sub-out) then panning won't make a difference. It has to be going out a pair of outs to retain the stereo image.

Noize2u has that same board (or one very close to it) maybe he will have some specific info regarding that board in particular later tonight...

Are the tracks doing anything when you pan them? They aren't fading out and then back again, are they? If so, you may be listening to a mono signal through both sides. My headphone monitor setup at home does that, if I'm not careful which cables I plug into it.

Styx, are you trying to pan with the sub out pna controls. They wont do anything unless you assign the channel you are inputting to through them.

I would recomend that to go to your moniters you use the comtrol room outputs going to your moniter amp. Dont use the Mian out. Make sure you have you moniter system hooked up correctly as well. You should be able to just assingn the input channel to Main Mix and it will come out the moniters and you will be able to use the channel pan knob to get right and left.

If you are monitering through the sub outputs, then you need to make sure they are panned as follows. ie: sub out 1 panned hard left, sub out 2 panned hard right.

Let me know if this helps, if not we can dig a bit deeper.

you lost me here. are you sending each channel (left and right) into separate mono channels of the multitracker? in which case THOSE channels will have to be panned hard left and right respectively.

tell us what multitracker you have so we know what were working with

dont know, but an easy cheat might be a line out from a headphone jack on the mixer into a single line in...ive done it that way before

obviusoly, its not the best way to do it...

ive got a zoom mrs 1266. the main left and right outputs from the mixer go into the two XLR inputs on the multitrack. The problem with panning it on the multitrack is that it would pan the whole input instead of the individual things (snare, hihat etc). this is why i want to pann it on the mixer and then feed in into the multitrack.
I basically use the mixer for EQing, panning, effects and volume of the drums and then feed that into the multitrack. When i connect my headphones into the mixer i can hear it panning, but i cant when i connect the headphones to the multitrack (and this is the most important one as this is the recorded signal)
Help much appreciated
