sorry, i searched for this in the forums, and didn't come up with anything. if this question is adressed somewhere, could you point me in the right direction?

in the realm of condensor mics what exactly are mic patterns, like omni or whatever, and for that matter what is the difference between small and large diaphragm condensors? i have a feeling that this was covered somewhere and i missed it, so sorry in advance if this is a repetitive question.

thank you. oh by the way, go to www.columbia.edu/~ug2102/mp3s/ and download kafka-intro2.mp3 to hear some experimentation i did with the intro of one of our songs, and tell me what you think.

Cardoid accepts sound mostly from one direction and rejects sound from the back of the microphone. Omni accepts sound from all sides of the microphone, pretty much equally. That's all I know :) Not a stupid question at all-- and thanks for searching before posting!

neat layers. sounds like reversed strings. the synth pad sounds familiar, like a preset of maybe something i've used before

thank you, yeah it's reversed guitars which are then stretched to about 5 times the original length, as well as a reversed chord on piano with a ring modulator effect. the synth pad is a preset on my microKorg, which might also be on the other Korgs, because i know the engine on mine is based on the MX2000 or whatever its called.
