MIDI and Soundfonts delay...

I recently received a ton of soundfonts from one of my buddies which I copied onto my computer.

I use fruity loops and want to use my Triton keyboard to activate the sound fonts in real time, but I hear a slight delay (maybe a quarter -> half of a second delay). So when I hit a key on my Triton, I hear the soundfont on the computer get played with that slight delay.

Is there anyway to make this synchronize better? Could it be MIDI cables?

I have another question too, but I'll wait for an answer to this one before posting the next one.

it's not the cables, it's the computer. either your computer is just slow or your soundcard is too slow. you might try to adjust the sound buffer size from within fruity. hit F10 and goto the audio tab andscoot the slider to the left as far as it will go without wigging out. it's worth a try

Yea, I turned down the buffer and it works much better. I have a DMX 6Fire Soundcard which wasn't cheap which is on a 2.4 ghz computer w/ 512 mb ram, so I didnt think it was because it was slow. But turning down the buffer helped a lot. Thanks a lot.

np.

i have have bad latency on my system and when eneter notes either by midi controller or computer keyboard i often have to go back into the piano roll with the snap set to "1/4 step" or "tick" and manually quantize the notes where i want them. i'm so used to it, it's not even a chore anymore, in fact it often gives rise to some funkier or smoother sounding timing on my note trigging
