wireless trouble

Argh. Ok, so I just got a new guitar not too long ago, and it's a lot higher output than my epiphones, which caused me to have to change gain settings on my amp / wireless to get it to sound right. I got frustrated so I lowerd the pickups on it and raised the ones on my epiphones until I got it all balanced out. Everything was working fine until today. I went to use the wireless (Samson Stage 55 by the way), but now all of a sudden the guitar's output is too much for the wireless. The dB meter is peaking when I barely touch the strings, but the gain on my transmitter is all the way down. I tried lowering the pickups even more, but that didn't help either. So now what?

On both guitars or just the new one. You might check for a short as well, this will cause the wireless to flake out on occasion as well.

Hmm, I didn't check the other guitars... I'll do that when I get home from work and let you know.

Well, I tried the other guitars and it's doing the same thing. If I turn down the volume knob on my guitar all the way down, it makes these horible staticy noises... and I know it's not the battery. I put a freshly charged one in. So now what?

man i feel bad cause i wish i knew more about these things. could it be something a simple as the jack on the transmitter shorting somewhere? or just a setting on the receiver? could someone have messed with it while you were away?

Nah nobody messed with it. I just don't get it...

Why would the transmitter all of a sudden be sending a STRONGER signal? If anything when it breaks it should send a weaker signal.

I'm gonna try to dig out my backup transmitter and see if that does the same thing.

Yeah... I've about given up on it. I think I'm just gonna pick up a new one this weekend. I'm thinking of going with a Senheiser... any thoughts?

The Senheisers are built very well. The only thing I found better were some custom made ones I had back in the 80's. I am guessing it may be in the reciever as well. There may be a gain setting that flaked out all on its own. Wireless can be finnicky at times.
