I've been using the Google toolbar and it's done a great job of blocking popups.

flame - you need to download a program called AdAware. It removes spyware on your machine. Most of this spyware causes popups to appear at random. It's FREE and comes with an updating tool. FYI - once you install it, use the update tool BEFORE you scan, or you won't have the most recent definitions file. This is available right now at download dot com

good luck :) get them before they get you.

Dude, the browser MyIE2 has a GREAT popup stopper.

plus loads of other cool features.

But yeah, AdAware is the bomb for finding and removing spyware.

Realize everything AdAware finds is not necessarily "evil" such as cookies, which sometimes are harmless, tho sometimes not, but anyone that surfs the net has a butt-load of cookies...so don't let the number scare you.

Dude, Yahoo itself I believe has popups, not from any spyware, just their website.

MyIE2 stops all that crap.

Well, you can always remove the toolbar from the view menu in IE...shutting off the service on the other hand might be a tad trickier...sounds like another thing Adaware or spybot should get rid of tho...

If you have a firewall installed I believe you can ban certain IP addresses from being allowed to contact your box. I havent had to much trouble since I put in Sygate Personal Firewall. They have an option to add IPs that I dont want to allow.
